Action

Post by Model70 »

I will soon be looking for a donor action to build a 7mm 08 and was wondering about you fellas opinions. It will be a sporter blued/timber nothing too extravagant. I was thinking mauser like an old CZ or similar, or perhaps a model70 action???

Model 70, a lot of the time it is a case of what you have or what you can get at the right money.I have always tried to use remington because of the extras readily available.
But one of the best rifles I have ever had was an old mauser style carl gustav 6.5 x 55 swede that i redid into 243 with a heavy Tobler barrel. It came up very accurate and gave very reliable service.
Best of luck,
Macca

M70, if you are looking for a cheapy, then maybe an old Tikka M55? Failing that a good sako 579, but they usually still fetch good bucks. My 7-08 is on a rem 700, as kenny said, lots of bits- but then you just spend too much accessorising the bloody thing!

I am liking the sounds of this 7-08 mate.

See if you can score yourself an old BRNO ZKK action, I was looking at finding one to build a 9.3*62 on until I found the CZ550 new in the box.
