Its here!!!! Sako 75 Varmint 204 Ruger

Post by humma »

G'Day Guys

Well the PTA arrived and a quick trip to Wangaratta to pick up the very rare(only 2 in Australia) Sako 75 Varmint 204. :P

First impressions: I love it.

Wood grain is quite different to other 75 Varmints I've seen before, which was the main focal point that attracted me to the rifle in the first place. It has a very matte finish with some beautiful grain. All the usual features, heavy barrel, single set trigger (8oz) and 6 shot magazine. Optilock mounts and rings and at the moment a Jap Nikko Targetmaster in duplex reticle 6-24x44.........i know i know its only there for sighting in until the Burris 6.5-20x50 comes in.

Soon as I got home gave it a good clean with some double strength short scrub (good shit), god it was dirty, a good scrub later and the barrel shines. I'll take to the local range this weekend to run it in, a pack of 32gn Hornady Vmax's should do the trick. Then after that some load development......any suggestions boys. I've got BM1, BM2, AR2219 and 2206, 32gn V Max pills, will be getting some 39gn Sierra's as well. Any other suggestions?

I will let you know how she goes.

Cheers
Hum

Mmmmmm sako. Mate of mine had a heavy barrel sako in 22-250, fell off the top of my ute due to some idiot pulling on the spotlight chord when we were stopped one night, then a few months later the stock got broken in half from a car accident he had, new scope from first time and new scope, glue and pin second time seen it still shoot under .5moa.

Given that it is 1 of 2 imported into Australia it could have some collector value down the track . All the more reason to leave it as original as possible .
