My latest purchase
Hi all,
I decided to jump into a new rifle.late last year. Oceania Precision SP25, I couldn't find a new one so had to take a second-hand 308. I'm getting creedmoor barrels fitted next week, 6.5 and 22 because I sit down to piss as they say.
They are built in NSW and are finished well but the 4lb trigger doesnt help with little groups. I've got some springs coming so hopefully I can sort that out. What sold me was the ability to get extra top ends so I could have additional calibres set up with scopes that I could change in less than 1 minute and not have to worry about zeros.
Ive only shot it once for groups ans that was with the standard collapsible stock they rattled, not the one in the pic. I was able to shoot 4 out of 5 into sub moa at 200 but I couldn't keep 1 shot in there, im pretty confident it was me and that trigger.
Ill post some more info when I have it.

Hi seddo,
Is that straight pull or semi auto?
Too lazy to search this morning.
Looks cool.

I like the idea of one in 308 for me thermal scope!
Dose it have a left side charge handle?
How is the trigger?

Re: My latest purchase
they come either way, i figured as i was most likely going to be shooting it from a bipod that right charging was the way to go. I will go with left charging on the SP15 at its more likely to have off hand shots.
As for the trigger, not the best pull weight of 3.5-40lbs but there isnt a lot of creep. they have fitted the lighter trigger for me so so ill know when it gets back next week. i have a 1.5lb trigger coming for it so if the lighter one is that good i have options.
I'm going to set up 1 of the uppers with night vision. i have had it sitting there for ages but never used it. its a lot easier when you can have it set up and its a 1 minute job to have it on and its already sighted in as well!!!

My lower with one of the extra uppers being test fitted after machining. It was a drop in fit.

That is awesome!
So what are you building on the 3 uppers?
This is a bad thread for me!
It's the closest I can get to a AR!

Re: My latest purchase
Its bad for my bank balance too, i have a SP15 on order as well (223 sized action). I'm going to cop all the gay jokes but 2 of them will be 22 Creedmoor and 6.5 creedmoor. I had the 6.5 barrel there to re-barrel the Wedgetail pump and the 22 was going to be the new barrel for my 22 creed but as its blowing up 95gr SMK's i will get this one throated for the A Tips and hope they stick together.
The 3rd one is undecided. I have a hand guard coming with a full length rail so i can mount my night vision so it will have to be a calibre to suit that. I could always use that handguard with the 308 and run it with night vision but i've never been a 308 fan. I'm open to suggestions for a calibre....
The lower is going to be cerakoted black and the 3 uppers will be sniper grey, zombie green and habanero red. I like the idea of knowing the calibre by the colour of the upper.

The 22 Creedmoor was blowing up SMK's?
I never owned a 308 till late last year and I have to say the results I'm getting on Sambar have been amazing!
I put down some big bodied stag with 1 shot in the front shoulder! Shit antlers!
They go 20 to 50 yards and drop!
Been getting a lot of my projectiles back, under the skin on the opposite shoulder!
It depends on what you want to do with it!

Re: My latest purchase
The 95gr SMK says min twist 6.5 on the box, i was running them in a 7 at 3070fps and not all were getting to the target. I have 2 different batches so i have to load up some out of each to make sure its not just 1 of the batches as the first few times i didnt have any missing shots. ive been told there is a lot of talk about that on US forums but i have looked for it. I will order a 8 twist and see what happens.
I started shooting f class with a 20" 308 and it was a pig of a gun, nice off the shoulder but bad off a bipod. It wasnt long before i moved to other calibres that turned out more enjoyable to shoot. I know a few people using it on deer inside 200m and they like it but i dont shoot them. My short little DTA was a fast twist 308 but i mainly shot that subsonic, around 10gr TB with a 208gr.
