Can you class a 45-90 as a varmint rifle?

Yep, just cause a critter is big doesn't mean it looses varmint status, just look at Trevort.

If you load it with the 250gn Barnes X you should be able to get some decent velocity out of it.
I used these "flying ashtrays" in a 458 Lott on some smaller pests and the results were entertaining so they will likely work great in a 45/90.
