260 rem

Ok so I think I have decided to go with the 260rem , just want to know if there's anything I should look for or out for when buying one.
If you have one for sale or know of someone who has feel free to message me (I would put up a WANTED ad but need 50 posts and I am not there just yet ).

There are a couple of Tikkas that look ok but I will keep my eyes out on usedguns.
Hopefully something will turn up.

Kickinback I will be reloading but will only need dies , but I am looking for my own reloading gear.
Can't see myself using any heavier than 140 gr.

My .260 is a Sako so I guess they make them too

I would be going with the Tikka or Sako.

You will get varying opinions on Tikkas based on the lack of good looks in the plastic stock but they work well untouched and are generally very accurate.

Savages work well too but the handle right on the back of the bolt just looks so wrong

Remingtons are great bases to customize from but if you want to use it as is out of the box my vote definitely goes to a Tikka.

Now, is it sporter or varmint? Hold a few and decide. Tikka sporter barrel length is 22 and 5/8 from memory whilst the varmint is 24inch. The varmint is not super heavy either.

I wouldn't call the current lower spec Rem700s a good basis for customization.

here's mine built on a stiller spectre action, not a light weight rifle but it shoots well, what are you using it for ??? and I use once fired 308 Winchester brass in mine, I run it through the 260rem FL die.

Rifle will be used for long non- competition target shooting and occasional hunting.
I agree with trevort, nice rifle.

If going for 140s you pretty much need a medium to long action anyway. Might find a tikka in 6.5x55 cheaper brass..more go easy to reload for whats not to love?

140's loaded out where they should wont fit in a short action magazine but 123's will.

If going 260 and long bullets the Tikka is the best option. Long 270/30 06 magazine and a simple bolt stop modification allows the longest bullets to be seated out. I did this with my 7/08 AI worked great.
