New addition 308
This is my latest Addition it is a Howa 1500 308 SS sporter with a Boyd stock I have a mag kit coming with 5 and 10 shot mag. I am going to attempt to bed the action in the next day or so. It was not going to be used as a target rifle but what the hell might as well set it up as best as I can and try and get some groups past the 500m mark. I might be dreaming but its worth a go. I bought it second hand and the trigger has already been worked so I hope with a good action bedding job and the rite ammo it will be a winner.

Re: New addition 308
Loaded up 50 rounds with 46 grains of 2208 with a 155gr nosler hbht pills. I let 3 go massive kick then the 4th was tight to lift the bolt on inspection the primers were flattening out. Maybe I started a bit hot but that's still 1 grain under max.Sako 22-250 wrote:Nice one Rig..Laminate and stainless ..classy look hope she' groups for you as good she looks

46gn of 2208 with a 155gn pill is almost a standard for the 308...and I run that exact load in a tight match chamber, so surprised you are getting pressure signs. You haven't got the pills either jammed into the lands, or so far back in the case you're reducing case capacity have you? Either will increase pressure....

Re: New addition 308
I had a day with the 308 again not sure what happened the first time out maybe a dud shelljeffk wrote:46gn of 2208 with a 155gn pill is almost a standard for the 308...and I run that exact load in a tight match chamber, so surprised you are getting pressure signs. I started by knocking out the 50 rounds I had loaded then reloaded up 40 rounds
I started at 44gn of 2208 and worked back up to the 46gn like I had loaded before they all shot well the 44gn shot 3 shots in .75 at 100m off a bench with a bipod. The rest did the same I found no massive difference with loads except the 46gn had near level trajectory out to 200m I am going to a longer range on Sunday and will set up targets out to 500 and see what I can do. Maybe I got a bad pill and it was too close to the lands the first time around
