I also recall seeing a video from another US gunsmith (buggered if I can remember who though) working a 6mm BR repeater (maybe a Hall or BAT action?) at both slow and fast speeds flawlessly. I think it's a bit of a mark of skill with BR gunsmiths in the States, so they certainly don't suggest it's something that comes easily to even experienced gunsmiths.
That is an Eliseo stock setup, very interesting system but only for rifle ranges.

The AI 223 magazine system was happily prototyped by Greg and I have already modified a WildDog magazine box to feed the BR cases in my AICS.

Hot tip on those WildDog 223 magazine boxes - they are too wide in the front and won't fit into a properly dimensioned AI magazine well. I had to taper file the front of the box to get it in there.

And yes, I will be fitting a humble Harris BR-S biopod to the whole rifle. I have tried a number of other bipods and the Harris is right for this rifle.

Took a trip over to Cowra so I could drop off the stock, etc. for the gunsmith to do his thing.

It was the first time all the parts were in the same place at the same time. I have been advised to submit my application for the PTA this week (YAY).

There was a standard Pierce action arrive in the same package to compare against and the weight difference between the Ti action and the standard CrMo one is the bolt. If you take the bolt out, the CrMo action weighs the same as the Ti one with the bolt in.

Got an update from the gunsmith today, the TiBR is on track for pickup in late February with the other barrelling job I have with him. With a little luck I will have it for March @ Yass.

He weighed the Ti action and the other Pierce CrMo action.

Pierce CrMo action with bolt (no trigger or scope bases) = 733gm
Pierce Ti action with bolt (no trigger or scope bases) = 525gm

As requested.

Weighs a pound more than I thought it would at 8lb 12oz, but is nice to hold. Could be a touch heavier out front.

Next weekend I will be painting the stock in 2k clear, and the barrel will be done in Graphite Black Cerakote.

Until then, accept the shiny stainless barrel. A 1:8 twist, 3 groove #4 profile Lilja with maximum shank.

Yes, it was nice to have it come in early. I was able to scrape together the $$ to pay for it all, I'm running tight at the moment as I bought too much late last year.

Got to pickup everything I dropped off, all done and ready to shoot.

Shortened the magazine catch by about a mm to get the thing to latch on a magazine.

Put a new bolt knob on - the Pierce one was pissing me off.

Put some 2K clear on the CF stock...POP.

A couple of problems with the BR with the last session.

I had pulled the barrel to Cerakote it but the damn rain kept coming down, so it was put back in and nipped up tight. Reassembled the rifle but missed one critically important thing. The front ring was sitting ON the rail, not locked IN the rail. The scope had a significant MOA up cant on it that I didn't catch until I had fired a few shots. Apart from the obvious fact the bullets were not hitting the paper where I thought they should (in fact they were not making it to the paper, such was the downward angle on the barrel), they were hitting other places.

Three shots, yes three shots, went into the Chronograph before I worked it out. The damage appears to be superficial, but until I get the cable reterminated I just don't know.

After calling it quits and retrieving the pieces in front of the bench, the rest of the development session went ahead with inconclusive results. From a 3thou jam to a 20thou off, nothing better than just under 0.5 MOA, and nothing worse than 0.75MOA. I will do it all again next weekend.
