Wonderful invention kids, they seem to know the answer to everything.

Glenn,
Seems to feed them no probs at this stage but I've only tried 3 mock ups to see how it would go before I committed to it so will have to see if there are any probs once I start to use it.
Being a crf action I'm anticipating no real probs but you just never know.

Camel,
Having had a few 20 cals now I can honestly say I wouldn't go to any thing else.
I must admit having thought about the 20/222 once or twice but decided on this (20vt) as it was to close to the 204, which I already have.

Model 84m varmint which had the fluted brl originally
I think I have got the pic organised
The first pic is of the forming process which Missed would be more than familiar with.
Since this shot was taken I have now annealed all the cases and the final step will be to run them back through the fls die to adjust the shoulder slightly.
By the way, if anyone has a Kimber and wants to try a 20 practical, I have a spare brl sitting in my safe. Unfortunately it won't fit anything else, according to phil jones who was the one who did the re barrel job. Did a great job too by the way, thank you Phil.
As soon as I can track down the missing screw for the rear sight I will try and get some pics ( now that I can load them) of some load work.

Don't know what happened to the first pic, went into cyberspace.
Second attempt.
L-R original 222 shell, run through the 221 fireball forming die, then cut roughly to length using a ryobi modelling tool, then run through a 20 vartarg fls die, run them through a neck expander to .204 and then neck turn to .230.
With projectile seated comes in at .233 which is just enough to fit the chamber.
Still might be a bit tight but trial an error will be the order of the day.

6.5-20x40 vx3 with the fine duplex
Might be looking to swap this to the 8.5-24x56 vx3 with the varmint reticle
Depending on how this cartridge performs
By all accounts this cartridge is capable of big things so might need the bigger scope down the track

Hi crackers
Hope you had a great Christmas
Yes, the cases are a bit fiddly but I wanted a bit of a challenge
Once their made they should be good for a while.
I've got a 100 made and just got another batch of 223 lapua cases to start on so I think that should keep me going for some time.
It's all part of the journey.
Catch up soon

Great news
I've just located the rear screw
I must have taken it out before I sent the rifle away and placed it in a safe place with the scope
it had fallen down between the walls of the safe and some other bits n pieces
so all good to go now
Just need some time to put it all together now

Update on progress
Today was first day out
Loaded up some rounds using 2207 and tried a few using 8208 and the 32g vmax.
Couldn't get the best rest as had to improvise due to local conditions in my area - that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Was a bit worried about shooting from a prone position on the ground due to dry grass at my usual shooting place so whipped up a shooting rest and asked a mate to use his recently cut hay paddock for my range test. Was a bit on the windy side but was reasonably consistent throughout so shouldn't have made much difference to the groups sizes, I would think.
A lot more fine tuning required. Trigger needs some work and the brl probably could do with floating as it is a lot heavier than the previous one and not free floating.
I think I will stick with the 2207 as the 8208 didn't seem to be giving the velocity. Plus the 18 g load showed a lot of promise. Was getting close to 3750fps and apart from one shot I know I pulled this seemed to be the best of the lot.
More than happy with the results, can't wait to load up a few more now and get amongst them.
Special thank you to Missed, who gave me the inspiration to continue with this project. Well worth "the journey" .
