If the .204 Ruger is so good
would a wildcat .20/250 be worth looking at? Might end being like a .20 cal 22.243 Middlestead and have some sort of super velocity powers.

HiWall,
20-250 has been done mate as has the 20-220 swift. Only by a few wildcatters in the USA as far as I am aware.
Of the 20's I like the look of the 20BR wich is based on the 6BR case.
Heres a link to a whole heap of 20 cal info ..

As noted, it's been done already. It's probably a bit too much of a good thing, as also noted The .20 BR is pushing hard on too much, but it delivers the goods all around, if you can keep the bullets together (it sometimes spins them apart!)
Sometimes I think the .204 itself is almost too much, the .20/222 seems more perfectly balanced, to my eyes. Of course, balance is good, performance is "gooder"

G'day Hiwall, I thought seriously about a .20/.250 or a .20/.250 imp but every response to the questions I posted on an American forum(because surly sombody over there has one) was a negative, but I did get 1 positive response where with the imp version the guys bullets were 1" high at 100 dead on at 200 and only a bit over 1" low at 300 - VERRRRY flat indeed
Cheers Steve

Aussie steve,
You can make anything work as long as you are prepared to put in the effort to make it work.
The question becomes is it really worthwhile ... ie amount of effort to set up and make work, amount of ongoing effort to keep it going and costs.
You will often find that when the same result or near enough is available in a more efficent (effort & cost) calibre its easier to go that way.
cheers

I'd imagine you would have to use the heavier end of the scale in regards to projectiles to get its true ballistic performance.
It would only be suited to long range shots as you can only shoot so flat out to 250m its after that distance that a round like this would come to its own but you may as well shoot 80gns out of a 22-250AI IMO.

Not really, there are no flies on the Practical, and brass is everywhere. As to building another rifle, I'm the wrong one to ask, I wouldn't even go to an IPSC match without at least three pistols of the same chambering. I tend to overdo everything
20 Practical - first foxes
Managed to get down to Adaminably over the weekend and bag my first two foxes with my new 20 Practical. Shane Clancy made the rifle for me from a second hand Remmy 700 ADL in .222. Now has a Lilja #5 (?) barrel and Burris Fullfield 4.5-14 x 42. Was an absolute pleasure to shoot - very little recoil and lovely light trigger. Was shooting 40 grain V-max's using 21.7 BM1. Am yet to try the 32 grainers... Was I excited? You bet ya!!
Also managed to nail a few bunnies for the weekend. Anyway, pic attached for proof! - POST EDIT: have had to remove the pic for now... Cheers
