Cant go wrong with the price of a Howa.
My Tikka M85 1983 vintage is a standard profile barrel and will shoot just as well as a HB varmit weighing 1/2 again as much.
With the huge muzzle blast you aren't going to get more than 2 quick shots anyway before you are friendless and targetless.
You can't go wrong with a Tikka.
I have a .375H&H CZ 550 here that 2 real gunsmiths have said "send it back" and Winchester say there is nothing wrong with it.
Also a CZ 527 that has had its barrel out, and now the firing pin is still hanging 1:10 times with alight strike
Can't recommend anything through Winchester Australia.
Remingtons are nice if you get a good one out of the box, otherwise its barrel off and action trued and rechambered, then if your action scope mounts holes have been drilled straight - it will be a good rifle.
Ruger - nice .416Ruger here : it finally cycled all rounds once the barrel was taken off, barrel squared, and feed polished: wonderful gun once a real gunsmith has made it work.
Did we mention Tikka and Howa ? Resale value is good on both !

Re: 22.250 Varmint Rifle? Which one?
Thanks for the advice and information everyone, Appreciated it!
Savage and Tikka seem to be great rifles and come with good reputations. Definately deserve more research! I was looking more towards Remington as the customsation offered by there rifles seem to be an advantage? Would that hold truth? I thought the Remington 700 SPS Varmint barrel Rifle would be a great action but a potentially shit stock (Sorry Remington owners, No offence intended!)
What are shooters thoughts on the Ruger M77 Stainless Varmint? Are there many options to modify and are they a manafacturer with credit?
Thanks again for the feedback. Look forward to more opinions and comments!

There is a New Remington VLS 22-250 on used gun for $1195.00!
Not a bad gun for the money.
Know a bloke with one in 243 and it shoots real good!

I have 2 remingtons and have had 1 other in the past and they were all good shooters. There is a but of bad pres out there about duds so i guess i am lucky.
A gunsmith told me the barrels in the rugers varmints are top quality and he use to be able to buy them new form the factory and use them on rebarrels.

Either way, Herron's is a few months away from importing the Bergara line ... hopefully the prechambered/pre-fits as well. That is of you like a barrel nut on your Rem700.
Cheers...

Even worse press for Marlins after an investment company took over Remington (and subsequently Marlin) in 2007. Allegedly old plant was kept viable by a dedicated work force, but when they were culled out, retired etc by the bean counters, quality went with them......there is a lot of bad press out there about duds so i guess i am lucky.....

Re: 22.250 Varmint Rifle? Which one?
One thing I have noticed, is that tikkas will often shoot the white box winchester loads very well. These loads are cheap as heck to buy. A mates tikka t3 22-250 stainless varmint drives those white box 45gr JHP's just as good as any handload. The 223 t3 varmints also like the 55gr soft point load. Plenty of pro cullers here use these rifles with that ammo.
My remington SPS varmint 308 likes the 150gr core lokt factory rounds, but i believe it doesnt shoot as tight as a tikka would. When I have the new krieger barrel screwed on and since I have trued the action it works very well for long range f class work.
The remingtons are a good rifle, but I would buy the stainless one. You pretty much need to scrap that plastic stock straight away as they are junk so that might put a decent remmy out of your price range. The blued T3 varmint or a howa would be my recommendation. My old howa 22-250 shot great and kind of wish I never sold it. Ruger VT's definitely work but Im personally not a fan of them.

I like the Howas - for the money they are very good, my Howa 22.250HB Blued cost $693 including importing the Boyds Thumbhole Stock. You could say they shoot alright!

Which .22.250? mine if you want it, Rem 700 VSF float and bed by Clancy, LRV1 trigger, Leupold 6-18x40 VX II, excellent condition, very consistent .350" @ 100, I'd advertise it for sale for $1600 with the serial No and tranfer shop if someone wanted to buy it
