Re: Howa 1500 HB in 223 rem
Nice, the howas are a decent rig for not much outlay and always seem to shoot fairly well. My old one in 22-250 was great. If you can, make sure you get a timney trigger for it- they are better than the factory ones. Also and if its not grouping how you think it should, make sure its barrel free floats and the action gets bedded down properly. Once you do that, you will be shooting bug hole groups.

Isn't there a guy in Australia that specialises in working magic on Howa/Vanguard factory triggers? Operating through Ebay?
Steven - sounds like a nice rifle. I look forward to seeing some pics.

How did it go mate, shot it yet?, if its like my mates it will be very good, his shoots .5" or better with handloads, his has the Boyds Thumbhole stock as well.
Re: Howa 1500 HB in 223 rem
I've put a few rounds through it now and am pretty happy with it. The trigger does need lightning though.
A very nice rifle for the money, and definitely got me considering another one in a larger calibre, maybe a 6BR

Good to hear your happy with it mate, so hows it go group wise? do you reload for it? also what stock did you end up getting? The Boyds/Howa seem to work really well together I know quite a few how have that combo now and boy are they getting some fantastic results with it. I'll be away soon and giving the fur a bit of a touch up! can't wait.StevenB wrote:I've put a few rounds through it now and am pretty happy with it. The trigger does need lightning though.

My mate has the Howa in 223HB in the Woodland thumbhole I think its called - he gets some great groups as well, I would however get the trigger adjusted as that will normally shrink groups as well, If you aren't comfortable in doing it yourself send Glen Couglan a email - He does great work on them and is cheap as well. Details are above in an early post.
well done mate, post some picks up of the targets you shot if you have any.
