Way back in late 2009 I bought a varmint weigh CZ barrel with a 1;9 twist that was surplus to Trevorts needs. I had the barrel put onto my CZ and and then left the farm and moved into town so I never got a chance to sit down and work out a load for it. Ever since there has been a situation arise, renovations, family commitments, crappy weather, work, etc, etc.
I loaded up 50 rounds of BM2 and 50g Nosler blitzkings. I had 10 rounds x 5 different loadings, I wanted to shoot two 5 shot groups of each loading. The wind was blowing like a poofter and then dropped back and went again and so forth.
First load had a bit of a spread, the second load got tighter, the third was the tightest, and the they started to spread a little again. The third loading gave a group of .472" the range officer wanted to close the range, but let me shoot one more group of the third loading in the bastard wind. Anyway I nearly pissed my pants when the first three shots went about .196" and the next two spread out horizontally to end up .733". The total vertical in the group was .177". All measurements are CTC. I've decided to load up a ship load of this weigh and start getting amongst the cute a furries a bit more often this year.

G'day Knackers,
that last group looks real good, no vertical and several bullets touching = great load & typical wind causing the left to right.
Perfect for furries.........get into them mate!

Thats great Knackers
I have been working on a load for Elmer Fudds 223 using 50gn BK's and BM2 it certainly has potential. We have settled on a powder charge and now I want to play with seating depths. Not quite the accuracy of your loads but very close.
Which primers are you using

G'day Travis, using Federal 205"s, never really used anything else, never had an ignition problem in 8000+ rounds over the years. Never thought about comparing the results with a different brand, problably should one day. I have the projectiles approx 10-12 thou off.
Hope to be adding to your new Cat-a-logue real soon.

Good grouping Knackers, that bit of windage is the difference between the left and right ventricles, still terminal on a rodent

Re: Finally sorted a load.
After my session of testing I settled for the 25.7gn load of BM2 and loaded another 20 rounds and went down the range again. Ferkin wind just doesn't let up this time of year and I found myself squinting at the flags again. I was happy with the result at 100 yards after ten shots so I moved the target out to 200 yards and reset my flags. Again happy with the first five shot group I started on the second group, fired the first shot on the bottom sighter target then pulled up because the wind went feral so made an elevation adjustment for a 200 yard POI. When the wind settled a bit, I placed my second shot on the target above the sighter made another elevation adjustment, thinking I'll settle with a three shot group for now. It still printed under an inch CTC.
The stock isn't bedded, its a stock CZ trigger, stock CZ barrel and I was using a bi- pod for a front rest and a bag under the butt with the sling swivel still in.

Good shooting Knackers, I have a varmint barrel ordered for my 223 but I'm finding with handloads and slow shooting the light barrel is fine. I have a three and five shot mag but now use a Calhoun single shot mag all the time.
In the field with a light pill and calibre the wind is the enemy of humane kills at distance. I try to limit the damage by shooting only in good conditions if it involves a long shot and passing on the shaky ones. Also check on paper in the dead calm of evening.......restores the faith

Well done Knackers it looks like it was worth the wait

Now get some windflags !!
And then see if they go all in the same hole.
I saw a video of the Super Shoot one year on youtube.
All the tails were straight out and the daisy wheels spining at a rather high rate.
not this one
