Off to the Dawn Service for the first time in 'way too long'. I'd have to be a complete bastard to miss this, as it's within walking distance from the house. Will probably go to the RSL for the breakfast so I can meet and thank those who fought for us.
Would have liked to go to big one in the city but the media have turned it into a paranoid security frenzy. I'm not going in to the city to be treated as if I was the enemy.
Hope those here who can do something to commemorate the sacrifice of those who defend/defended this nation.
Went to Lochies school ANZAC Day assembly yesterday, now all ready to go to wake up my trainee's with a coffee and a healthy shot of rum.
Uniform freshly dry cleaned, medals pinned on - ready for what comes today.
Never forget the sacrifices that were made in the past, to allow us to enjoy the freedoms we have today.
Lest we forget.

Mick, Is this a bit of tradition? Some are worth keeping.
We have had perfect weather for the dawn service, the wet weather has gone and no frost. There was probably double the usual crowd, great to see.
The boys and I then helped cook the BBQ breakfast back at the RSL for the members. Just something we do along with the other volunteers to show our support and thanks.
Went to the local do, which was pleasantly more crowded than I had anticipated.
I then popped down to the RSL for a breakfast.
The shot of rum in the coffee was most enjoyable. It was amusing to watch the shot glass fall into most of the coffee, which then had to be fished out. Didn't affect the taste though
Incredible turn out at the RSL, which was damn fine to see.

Nothing wrong with the tradition of a gunfire breakfast
I was really pleased to see the biggest turnout I've ever seen at our local cenotaph at dawn this morning, and I've been a regular for many many years now. I heard the same from mates at the range today about the other cenotaphs in the area.
