Hi everyone,
Was put onto this site by joelomunro after i met him on what was to be a pig hunt (pigs didnt play ball) organised with an old work colleage (Kel).
Have been lurking in the background for a couple of weeks now and figured i'd better step up and get into it as they say.
Looks to be quite a few AHN peeps on here so some friendly names make things easier.
Been shooting since i was about 15 which is now more than half my life (way more unfortunately) however its the one sport you can do no matter how old you are and doesnt require a great fitness level (depending on how far you want to take it) so it works well for me.
Started out busting starlings and sparrows with an old air gun on the grandparents place, graduated up through the .410 and onto the 12 guage and then added rabbits and foxes into the mix and loved it.
Loved it so much that i joined a local gun club in Lilydale Vic ('96) and started shooting smallbore and then air rifle from there. M Diamond and R Mark were great motivators at the time and help me push myself beyond what i though was possible and it got to a point where i was shooting more paper targets than living.
That went on for a few years and then i took a break from the paper targets ('01) and never really went back.
These days you'll still find me out chasing the rabbits n foxes (with bigger guns now) and also pigs, goats and deer. Quite tasty those deer.
As far as guns go i've owned a few over the years. I've sold a number that i shouldnt have (including 2 Sako's that i still kick myself over) when i was younger however i'm starting to get the collection going again.
Not by choice but i seem to have turned into a weatherby slut as i now own 3 (300wsm, 257 WM and 22-250). Rounding out the collection ATM is the trusty norinco (from my teen years) and a Marlin in 17HMR.
I think thats enough for the moment.
Looking forward to contributing and learning (never to old to learn stuff).
Cheers,
Rob
