Well ,as you would expect it was fairly hot ,but the competition was just as hot , new shooters and cold beer after, what more can ya want .. Al will post the results and report shortly.. It has just been confirmed that MIRAGE was invented in Townsville in December ,many years ago.. I don't think i have ever seen it that bad , during the sighter period i could not see a spotting disc at all ,even to save my life , the guys that shot at 8 am had to call the butts crew for the fall of sighter shot .. By midday it was tough just to get em on paper.. JR..Jeff Rogers

Hi All
It has taken a while to get the results up but they are now in the results section.
Overall it was a great day with nine shooters turning up on some reasonably late notice that we were able to shoot however all were keen to get out and get amongst it with Eric G even coming out after just arriving back from OS the night before so he was a bit jet lagged
It was good to see Wiz there for a crack at one target with JR's HG for the first time at 1000yd and some 9 - 10 years since shooting his last BR match. Attached is a picture of his target which went 13.xx"

Along with this Jack was a first time shooter at LR and 1000yds however should be a regular with a new rifle on the way He too did exceptionally well winning the LG group agg for the day at 9.325" and the small group for 8.70" so well done Jack. This was all done with an itty bitty 6BR Maybe that 30/284 needs a re-barrel already
As outlined by JR the conditions were pretty tough with mirage but it posed a good test situation for the alternate sighting method being trialled by Jeff H which seemed to be showing some very good merit with him scoring small group for the day in HG at 10.32" so no doubt he will be continuing to trial this into the future.
HG group agg and score went to JR at 10.885" and 187.2 respectively. LG score went to myself at 86.2.
All up a tough day but good to see everyone there.

Thanks for that a.J.R getting a result at all was my first objective while shooting in townsville - learning how to read your conditions will help me shoot at many other venues arround the country -- and seeing the problems i had with broken extractors and eye opperations during the year i'm quite happy to end up in fourth place for group and score --- i will do better in the coming season and will try and bring more people up to townsville for your shoots -- have a great happy new year -- john mc
