Howdy All

Today saw the third 1000yd BR match here in Townsville which formed part of the postal against the US contingent over in Virginia.

Yet again the weather conditions were trying and in fact you could have thought we were in Melbourne with nearly four seasons in the day :) It seems the wet season is looking to try and make an early start with us waking up to showers of rain this morning however the sun then popped it's head out for a while just to bump the humidity up a bit so you started sweating just thinking about it only to eventually disappear again for more showers of rain and squalls coming through the area over the afternoon. This made the conditions fairly challenging with the switching and changing wind gusts associated with them.

The field was the largest we have had for the year with 10 shooters turning up which included a new and first time shooter Karac (KP) who was in the area from Brisbane which was great to see and he was rewarded with his first ever group at 1000yd being the small group for the day at 6.603" so well done KP.

An over view of the results are below with full results in the results pages.

Small Group
LG - Karac Eden (KP) 6.603"
HG - Jeff Rogers 8.40"

High Score
LG - Alan Nielsen 48.1
HG - Jeff Rogers 96.3

Group Agg LG - Alan Nielsen 9.850"
Score Agg LG - Alan Nielsen 93.1
Group Agg HG - Jeff Rogers 8.885"
Score Agg HG - Jeff Harrison 178.3

Hi all , Well 2009 is over ,thank god for that , it's still blowin the cockatoo's out of the mango trees up here. It's been the worst year for winds that i can remember ,lucky i'm not a pro Fisherman ,no wonder the bloody prawns are expensive ..Still back shooting is all good even if i could not pick the right flags even to save my life..I plain a simply sucked on wind calls all year as evidenced by the worst 6 match for group since i built the gun in 2003.. Group agg of 8.521 ins and the score 560.7 (93.33).. Got another tomato stake with a Krieger sticker on it , won't be gettin another in a hurry cause it's toast in a 1000 rounds ..JR..Jeff Rogers

JR its funny looking at the pictures that you can see the different conditions that we had in the day. Some have sunshine, some overcast (obviously when the rain was starting to come in) and a couple of others that I took down range you could actually see the rain clouds on the hill behind.

Just like Melbourne, couldn't make its mind up for which season we had :D
