G'day Brett,

All the best on the week-end. I had intended to get out there as I intended to use that Biathlon rifle that I bought from Ron Goulding in the factory class-unfortunately it is over the weight limit by about 2 kgs so will now head down to Canberra for the ACT rim fire event.

Out of interest, the rules for hunter class state that a scope up to 6X. Does this mean that one could not use aperture sights?

Regards

Sean that is a question that I have never thought of,the rules say no scope over 6x power so aperture sights should be fine ,you would be a keen person to try it .

G'day Chris,

Just trying to stay under the weight limit. Contrary to what most think aperture sights are very, very accurate. I was thinking of placing the smallest Iris possible in the fore sight. From the bench it should be fine.

We have prone shooters in our Club that can shoot groups as good as we do from the bench.

I will still have to weigh the rifle just not certain about asking the butcher if I could use his scales. I would have liked to get their this weekend and the State titles in Dairyville.

Unfortunately too many shoots penned in the diary this year. We will definitely get there next year.

Regards

Sean, your sights would be fine, and I am certain you and many others could shoot well enough with them, the problem would be the actual target, its a fair bit different to a small bore target and would be hard to get a true sight picture every time. Maybe different front rings would fix that problem. Good luck in the act.

Chris, I am booked in for the IRB Nats, well I have sent a nomination form, I hope I am registered, will see you there.
