LR in NQ

Post by davegh2o »

Hi,

As a probable future resident of Townsville I thought I'd just inquire as to the amount of shooting going on up there. As a member of SSAA and QRA and with an interest in F-class, LRBR and pretty much anything I can get my hands on I'd be dissappointed if I didn't get to pull the trigger every now and then. Anyway any information on this matter will be appreciated, whether it is contact details or programs, I'd look forward to hearing about it.

Regards Dave.

Hey Dave,

not to sure about the current situation but i believe you have to prominent shooters who have pretty much given up with the way things are in FNQ atm. If you have a read of Tony Z's and a.JR's posts it will tell most of the story...

There will be LR shooting in NQ again, even later this year. But it will be without my influence or involvement. For any information as to how things are going, best to PM albow on this forum.

Tony and grimo,

Thanks for your replies, I will PM albow as my relocation looks inevitable.

I can't help but get the feeling that I'll go missing if I ask any questions.

Regards Dave.

Dave,

I believe F-Class is strong in North Queensland. You'd be welcome on ozfclass.com forum if you want to put some feelers out.

Yes, F class is going strong in FNQ, I have just been talking to some North Queenslanders over the last few days. Townsville range goes back to 1000 yds (A couple of 1000yd benches behind the 900M mound). You will get plenty of trigger time at Townsville as well as plenty of other ranges in FNQ.

There is plenty of shooting in Townsville on a very regular basis. The range is located about 20mins out of Townsville, you need to take Harvey's Range Road and the rifle range is on the left, just before you start heading up the hill. You need to look for a white sign.

SSAA shoot on Saturdays, commencing from around 0900h. They have nearly all disciplines as far as I know. TR/FC shoot on Sunday mornings commencing at 0800h. We shoot smallbore Sunday afternoons - about twice a month. The range is a multi-range complex and is excellent. If you are interested in a TR/FC program please PM me.

Cheers
