Well done to Dave Stewart from Herberton on a fine win in the Open FClass section of the Mackay Queens. Very close behind was Cameron Mac, well done to him too.
The great part of this story is that Dave got a little help from above. Many of us will remember only too well the big Swede, Stan Elfstrom, who passed away a couple of years back. Well Stan left one of his two 6.5 Rogues to Dave in his will. The rifle was done on an Omark action fitted into a Wetland stock, all made locally here by my old mate up there in Innisfail, Luke Crook. A big win always seemed to elude the Swede, so i am sure that Stan would be very proud that it was done with his old gun and that Wendy and son John would be very pleased that Dave did so well. Dave is most often seen in the butts at most matches around the North here and very rarely shoots. So it was good to see Dave actually shoot a match rather than work at one. Could not have happened to a nicer bloke.
And Marty, good luck at Bisley mate and i am not sorry i am not going with you . I will hope to post the day aggs as you email them to me.
