Chatting to a local shooter today reckoned the 800 and 900 palma match on the weekend saw a bloke get the highest possible score, with the local bloke one shot behind. Im not a huge follower of this sport as of yet but shooting a 900 is supposed to be challenging isnt it? The local bloke got 899 and the other from perth got the 900. Is this a new record or can someone tell me its been done before so i can burst his bubble :D

brad - anything over 800 is challenging. it is the conditions that make it bloody hard. i shot a 1000y last saturday at belmont and had 16.5 min wind (thats 165 inches off target). any slight drop in wind at that distance can be between 1-3 mins change. the more shooting you do the better at reading that damn wind. wind aarrrgh. hats off to those guys who shot that score - impressive

Yeah they tell me its challenging. Im not sure exactly what scores they got, but this one bloke from perth got the hightest possible score anyone can get and its supposed to be a record. Just thought it would have been done somewhere else in the world and not just capel rifle range.....

Yep - the shooter was Bill Hallam and he shot the three ranges clean - 800, 900 and 1000m. It was a Palma match (3x15rd applications). I believe there is some checking on to see if it is world record. He was using a 6BRX

Not only is Bill Hallam a very good shooter, he is also a fine gunsmith, and has been chambering the 6BRX for anyone that wants one for some time.
He has done work for me, and chambered my 6PPC rail gun some years back.
