ProCal 500m Fly & 1K BR - Canberra - 27th and 28th Sept

Post by Mick »

Well, it's that time again.

Numbers are already looking pretty good, so if you haven't already nominated for the Fly shoot, I'd do it real soon.

Nominations for Sundays 1K shoot will be taken on the Saturday during the Fly shoot as usual.

Good shooting (and fine, even conditions, though in Canberra I doubt it!) everybody.

I just checked my roster and I have those days off, plus, its school holidays, so an excuse to drag the family out for a drive. I might look into the course of fire and might turn up.

Is there a program or course of fire out for the weekend yet?

RD,

Here's the rules ..
500m FLY RULES
1. Any Cal less than .50Cal.
2. Any stock configuration.
3. Any scope power including spotting scopes. Competitors may spot for each other.
4. No weight restrictions for Heavy Gun class. Light Gun class weight is 17lbs including bipods.
5. No rails ie: Guns shot from separate sand bag rest systems where the rear sand bag shall contact both the bench and the rifle. The front sandbag rest can be attached to a pedestal which can have adjustments for windage and elevation.
The rear sandbag may have a stabiliser plate surrounding it if desired. Light gun class are allowed bipods.
6. 7 minute details. 1 target per shooter per detail.
7. Only 5 shots on the target. 3 sighters at other medium (paper or steel) for each relay. Payment of nominations shall be deemed total acceptance of these rules.
8. No ‘muzzle brakes’.
9. Compliance with range safety rules at all times.
10. Any competitor found not enjoying themselves will be disqualified.

About all you need to know there a match is 5 targets, 5 scoring shots and 3 optional sighter per target so 8 rounds per target x 5 targets 40 rounds. The day starts with an optional warmer target as many shots as you like in allotted time which means 50 rounds will be enough.

Pre registration is not essential but is the only way to garantee a seat, the March Federal Cup usually books out September Pro Cal is not so tight usually.

1000 yd match Sunday

Anything I missed ?

Good one, thanks Rinso. I just have to check whether my rifle will squeeze into the 17lb catagory or whther I will be stuck in Heavy gun. I will try to make it down there for a try.
(of course, I,ll tell the family I,m taking them to Canberra for a look and holiday , but I might have a bit of a shot while I,m down there)

Hi Guys,

Hope to see you all there. The old man is coming as well... he's all keen now that new life has been given to the "Hartbreaker".

Mick what are the chances of both Dad and I shooting both classes on Sunday?

This might sound like a stupid question, but are people (read: me) allowed to come and watch?

Would most likely only be for the sunday, but what are the hours of operation? Start time? end time?

Hello WhiteMeat,
anybody can come and watch, but as a spectator, the Saturday shoot is probably better, so many more guns on the line each detail, up to 20 where as sunday is limited to 4 guns each detail.

As you can see in a previous post reply rinso has outlined the rules, so if you have a cetrefirerifle and 60 rounds of ammo, why not contact jim mckinley in canberra and shoot the match. check out the actbenchrest site (fly page) for contact details.

nominate, bring your gun and have a great weekend. Fly and 1000k shooters are the friendliest and most helpfull bunch of guys you could hope to meet, many of them are members of this site.

Don't be shy turn up, shoot, meet the guys and enjoy a great weekend of burning powder, seing varoius rigs and the help and advice flows free and easy all weekend ( plus a bit of bull, but everybody's human).
hope to see you there
bowhunter.
