"I can't shoot straight to save my life!!"

(Not so much an excuse as a description)

The flag's just lied to me,scope is playing up,mirage is terrible, just doubled with the bloke next to me and it put me of.
Just a couple of my favorites :D :D .

Regards Chris.

That blokes gear cost more then mine.
That one didn't make as loud a bang as the others.
The bloke next to me's wrist watch blinded me.
I gave my son the better ammo.(it's starting to happen more often.)
The flags aren't telling me that.
This barrels had it.(goes 60/60 the next stage.)

My personal favourite is

"the flags are going one way and the mirage is going the other"

Cheers

Wind blew just as I squeezed the trigger.
Wind stopped just as I squeezed the trigger.
Someone coughed and put me off my shot.
I can't concentrate when women are shooting with us.
Must have wound the scope adjustment the wrong way.
Too much wind.
Can't see my bullet holes too much heat shimmer
Missed the wind change
Target is too far away call in an AIR STRIKE.

Given my recent wooden spooning at Leeton I have a few to add.

#1 The scope I had on my Annie is fine at 50 and 100 but that all changed at 200. It was like looking through a schooner glass. I guess thats what you get when buy rubbish manufactured in China. Go Tasco.

#2 Prior to the shoot at Leeton I zeroed the rifle using SK match at Silverdale, I also knew from previous trials that RWS, Greentag, SK match and a few others were at minute of angle at 50 and 100.

At Leeton I re-zeroed the rifle using the remaining SK match not thinking that there would be any substantial difference. There was 18 inches using Greentag at 200 and I was out of adjustment with the Tasco.

#3 In the Hunter class I only had a 12 power scope and my spotter was unable to identify any hits on the target as she left her reading glasses at home (how convenient, although it was all over having missed the first scoring target completely, AI helped me out in the second detail, I then had an idea to what was happening).

#4 On saturday when we zeroed the rifles the wind was blowing from right to left about 15-18 klm/h. Cometh Sunday the wind had changed direction and was blowing from Left to Right.

This was very confusing as I was still having to hold off on the right hand side of the target and the wind was blowing hard from the left. :?:

The conclusion

#1 A diplomatic letter will be drafted and sent to Tasco.

#2 A Lyman all American 20 X scope is on its way from the U.S.A (Im not sure whether to place this on the Annie or the .223)

#3 I will not use Greentag at the next fly match, I will revert back to Federal Gold medal.

#4 I will ensure that Leanne has packed her glasses.

PS dont be disheartened with the RF fly my first group was 14" last year.

Ben under most circumstances i would agree that this is an excuse, but our range in Townsville is known for this. I have personally seen it many times and have tested it with sighters to prove it to myself. You have definetely got to go with the mirage at Townsville at certain if not all ranges. When the NQRA Queens comes to town in a year or two (?????), you will see for yourself. At our recent OPM, Pete Smith, Dave Stewart and myself watched Peter Webber fire 12 sighters and one record shot with the words "where the fuck did that come from" between each sighter. Like all good competitors, we told him after he had finished. I think ?
It is well known that there is about a couple of seconds between a wind direction change and a response from a good BR flag. Big bore flags are even slower. This is not what i am refering to. Our big bore flags can show a decided direction for a long time and the mirage will flow or even run in another direction. It is definetly wind currents between flag positions that are doing this and not some physics defying property. The end result is that the lost shots are from windage wound into shots as it is often that all the winds cancel themselves out. We see it at our 1K events on the odd occasion and it is certainly not a daily event but i do use it as an excuse all the time    .

PS. Ben i have a couple of barrels for sale if you're interested. Something to replace that toothpick you've been using  See pic. One on left is a 1.5 inch parallel and on the right is a 2 incher. I'd go for a two incher and make a real statement

PPS. JR, News bulletin i just heard said a cat was found wandering the streets of Brisvegas. It had three broken legs and several other internal injuries. Injuries are believed to have been sustained over a long priod of time. RSPCA has yet to locate the owners

Hey Tony,

I shot in Townsville a couple of years ago at the OPM - nice range and I seemed to have a bit of luck at that shoot - Seven stainless mugs and a gun safe  8)

Mate I reckon that a 'donkey' would be proud of a barrel like that   . Not sure she'd fit into my stock though - probably fall off the front rest forwards  Does that barrel come with free hemeroid cream?

Cheers
Ben...

I thought of another when I woke this morning, perhaps the long barrel on the super match is causing the projectile to lose speed.
