Have a nephew recently joined 6RAR, and he was included in their 10 man section shoot team against the rest of the Army ( Armed forces?); his dad (F class shooter from the Sunshine Coast/North Arm) is proud and pleased as punch that his team earned the silver in the Steyr shoot, and gold with the Minimi. (the young bloke shoots both).
I love to see the tradition continue... what do you blokes reckon?

good stuff Geoff, we need to organise an exhibition shoot with these guys, have'em bring their gats out and show us what they can do before giving us a turn. I had fun with the SLR's & M60's a long time ago but would love blast with the new stuff. I reckon we could make it part of our big July weekend (not this year), get the media involved and roll out the recruiting van to give the defence force a reason to be there.

Wouldn't mind, BlackPete, but he's with 6RAR in Brissy, and I believe that as soon as they got home from Pucka they went up to Tin Can Bay for more shooting. Lucky buggers. The nephew went big bore shooting (both F class and some 303 range work) with his dad and scored well right off; sounds like a natural to me...

Well done to your nephew Woob, shooting the styer accuratly and constantly is NOT!!! an easy thing to do by any streach of the imagination.. I know from experience!!! and he would have been up against some VERY talented competition, as most of the blokes that shoot in the inter service marksmanship competitions are benchrest and service rifle shooters from way back.... 5.56 NATO is an inherantly accurate round from what i hear, but the styer on the other hand does not deliver near half the accuracy that the round can produce...
congratulations to him once again
Cheers BB
