Hey guys the Leeton Fly is on the 19th & 20th of April as you are aware.
I have just spoken to Antony Goyen from Vortex and he is putting up a brand new scope for the shoot.
Now before you all go .. I can't win that ... the scope will be a lucky door prize for all entrants on the Centrefire shoot.
So yes YOU

can win that just by turning up and having a shot on the day .. no matter how you go, no matter where you finish at the end of the day. You don't need a fancy target rifle or a great score, you don't need to have experience anyone can win it as long as they are a competitor on the Centrefire shoot. So dust off the ole favorite and come on down to Leeton.
During the presentations a lucky competitor will be randomly drawn and walk away with a shiny new scope ... how good's that.
The scope will be from the new Crossfire range and will be a 6.5-20 x 44 .. now thats got to be worth the cost of admission hasn't it. Add to that you get to shoot, talk shit and generally have fun, meet new people and put some names to faces .. it will be a carnival like atmosphere for sure
I think there will be a dinner at the pub on Saturday nite or something similar (Shane will advise on that) but based on last year it will be great.
So who's going to turn up and have a chance on a new scope ??????
cheers
Rinso

Good stuff Dave. The door prize offer always goes down well where anyone just by entering can get a chance to win.
Have a good shoot guys and gals.

So there you go guys a little more reason to come along.
A big thanks to Antony for his generous support of our shoot.
A Vortex scope for door prize.
Trophy's for the top place getters in rimfire and hunter/varmint and benchrest classes in centrefire.
And if all goes well we should have fly patches for the people who manage to hit the fly in both rimfire and centrefire.
We will have dinner at the Murrumbidgee hotel on saturday night.
Time permitting we will have a sight in for the cenrefire shoot on the saturday arvo after the rimfire is finished.
So all you guys who said you were coming i guess still will be? Yes!
cheers,
Shane

I would have to tell you all too much about my complicated life to let you really believe my excuse but suffice to say I would have to swap a weekend with the kids and my son would miss his first footy match of the season and right now he really needs not to be hassled out his routine.
So I really really wanted to be there but I cant now.
Enjoy yourselves and post plenty of pictures.
By the way, the food at the Bidgee was top class.

I love a comp where i can win just by going into it, I only enter fishing comps cause you stand a good chance (1/800 of a camper trailer) winning something even if your a crap fisho like me
I will bust my ass to get there, Pat was kind enough to loan me a scope so i should at least try and do some good with it.

Pat if you are keen to get out there is a Melb BR 500m fly club shoot on the Sat of that weekend. Looks like I could get to it and not create any dramas. If you want to tag along let me know.

Thanks for the offer TrevorT-- migth look at what can be done- it will all depend on my chemo schedule.
I dont have anything that would be bottom 10 places at 300M.
500M might be stretching it-- but keep that in mind-
A scope with enough magnification at 500 might be my biggest problem

well a day out chatting to blokes hearing bangs and smelling powder might be better than sitting at home even if you dont pull the trigger!

I like your thinking-- are you using that fore end extended plastic thing you brought?
Could I try it on my 6BR??
6BR 1:10 twist and some 87 V-max should make 500M- just have to find a load that works.
Problem is the scope on it's only a 10X- might be a bit limiting for 500m
Do you have a spotting scope??
Thanks

G'Day Pat,
my mates 6ppc with 70gn blitzkings is competitive out to 600yds. It has scared a few F class shooters in it's time!
So give it a go, nothing to loose!

yes but you can shoot
I't not the 6BR making it I'm worried about- with only a 10X scope I'll be lucky to see bullet holes so I will have NFI where I'm shooting

you can borrow the forend adapter. I dont have a spotting scope but usually at 500 fly (i've shot 2 matches, like wow) you cant see the holes because of the mirage. As long as you can see the splash plate. But your right, 10x is not ideal, but firing and missing is better than not firing.
Ned does pat need to be a club member to shoot in the club comps?
