Shooting Sports Subforums?
Gday fellas would you's like subforums for a few different sports.
Look at Other hunting & Fishing to see what I mean?
If so what do you's want?
I was thinking something like this:
Bench Rest
F-Class
Metallic Silhouette
Shotgun Sports
Handgun Sports
What do you's think?
Basically it will turn the one forum into a mini board that can cover a few things etc etc.
Let me know what you guys think of that!

Is there really enough discussion on both or either of those topics to warrant it??native hunter wrote:Any chance of splitting the benchrest into Rimfire and Centrefire.??

Re: Shooting Sports Subforums?
G'Day Kjd,
given there are the Benchrest Bulletin for RF, SR & LR BR and then ozflclass for, you know, f class; out there you may want to split things if you want to, but I reckon there are probably enough forums including ausvarminter, out there to cover the above disciplines.
Certainly, i'd encourage a forum for any of the other disciplines not covered above if you feel it is warrented since I reckon in Oztralia we have the above codes very well covered.
just my 2 cents anyway
Cheerio Ned

Re: Shooting Sports Subforums?
So are you suggesting that we have just one "Benchrest" Forum or what mate sorry I don't follow?

I would apply the same question to creating the subforums listed in your original question.... I personally don't think there is enough discussion on one area to warrant too many subforums however just my thoughts.

Al,
Fair enough mate I don't read shooting sports as I don't have a huge interest in BR but I figured I'd ask the question tis all!

No worries, will be interesting to see others' thoughts though.
I suppose the flip side to introducing the subforums is it may lead to more discussion on those other areas of shooting sports which may not be covered now.

Re: Shooting Sports Subforums?
Sorry Kjd,
I mean to suggest that most forms of BR (RF/SR/LR)are well covering either in the Benchrest bulletin website along with the RBA website for RF BR and with the aus varmint forums and then throw in the dedicated ozfclass site for F class and FB that these disciplines probably do not need any further coverage here in Australia.
To me, it seems the other shooting disciplines are not as well represented on the internet and yes they could benefit from there own dedicated forums.
Maybe it would be best to have separate forums for major shooting disciplines mentioned above.......it's your call.
Cheerio Ned

Re: Shooting Sports Subforums?
kjd,
Speaking for myself I like having all shooting sports together. I would not go out of my way to read individual subforums on things that I don't do. However I find that in "Shooting Sports" I tend to read every post.
I also think that we have members here that gain from sharing in a wide range of shooting disciplines skill sets all under one banner, makes for some great diversity in posts both in questions and answers.
Its a shame really that we can't get the whole shooting fraternity to come together so well. If we acheive nothing else we reduce the secular nature of some individuals through community.
cheers
Rinso

G'Day all,
like Rinso, I've had no complaint with the current format for shooting sports. At least you dont have to go far to find them!

I pretty much agree with albow, Ned & Rinso. I read all the target shooting threads because they are all together. To be honest, my interest in target shooting would not have been kindled but for the AV Target Shooting forum - I feel that it has brought people with diverse interests together.

Gotta agree with most above, the way it is now suits me fine.
I was just thinking previously that it being split would allow you to just visit one area that interests you,I also read it all in shooting sports.

Re: Shooting Sports Subforums?
kjd,
I don't think it really matters either way but some people may see it as division of their group........and we don't really want to make people feel that way do we.
I am like the rest I tend to read every post in the shooting sports section so it would just mean more 'clicks' for me

Re: Shooting Sports Subforums?
Ditto rinso and co. for me. Read all if it's there but wouldn't go looking for specific sports I'm not into.
