A great afternoon shooting here. Conditions were tricky, as you can see our range is lined by trees and turns into a wind tunnel in any sort of head/tail wind. Winds were coming from about 2 oclock (and down the range as well) about 20-25km/hr and mirage was quite thick at times as well. We shot on kongsberg electronic targets today and its a very relaxed and quite an enjoyable way of shooting, though sadly not recognised by IBS. Next time we will shoot on paper targets to mix it up a bit.

Prior to shooting myself and another shooter put the tops on the two new benches installed and gave all the exposed timber a coat of paint. Everything is looking quite nice with a solid concrete slab around all the benches. Just some form of sun protection left to build, whether its a shade sail or a fixed scillion colorbond roof over the benches.

As people are becoming accustomed to this style of shooting, a couple of club records have started to be set. Bob Kinnear with his 7SAUM shot our first sub 200mm group. His 180gr bullets really did well today in the wind compared to the small 6mm bullets that the rest of us were using. And again the 308's continue to surprise with a 49/50 points shot today outscoring any other rifle on the range.

Results in the results section. Heres a couple of crappy iPhone pics of the range and benches.

That range almost looks like a golf course. Nice and green!

Cheers for the photos brad.

Looks good Brad. How many competitors do you normally get?

We had 20+ at the first one as we advertised it quite well. This time around we had 10 without any advertising. Next year it will be a bit better advertised and organised (in the bigger shoots anyway) This year has been good for a bit of fun and nice and relaxed to get people used to shooting it.

And yes our range is nice and green, coming out of winter its looking great. But our range keeper is absolutely fantastic and our mounds are green most of the year.

Golf balls... now thats an idea! Golf ball shoots at 700m!

Yes Trev, we are probably capable of running a decent match now. Have permission for 2 more benches if we want to install them as well. A job for the summer months. But a bit of experience in running it plus more benches means we can cater for more people. Just got to start shooting better groups. Not as easy as we first thought!

So he has a BAT now. No need to use a mallet to open his bolt anymore then.
