TSV Fly Results

As mentioned in another thread, the weekend gone by saw the fourth fly match for the year shot in Townsville.

The field for this match only consisted of four shooters Blackpete, Eric G, Tony Z and myself as JR was waylaid with a pretty nurse and a number of the other regular shooters also had commitments. All were shooting light gun and that new rifle of Tonys’ was veeeery nice :D

The weather conditions were not all that favourable however in typical NQ fashion for this time of year as the winds get ready to knock the mango blossoms off, we got a beautiful 15 – 20 knot zephyr followed up with some pretty heavy mirage from mid morning leaving it impossible to see your bullet holes after your first couple of targets.

Results for the day were:

High score for single card : Blackpete with 51 points
Small group : (I will need to check and confirm the result)
Scores : albow - 222.3, Eric G - 185.3, Blackpete - 185.1, Tony Z - 135

A great day was had by all and no doubt will be looking forward to the next LR match on the 23rd of September when we shoot the 600yd.

Albow,

Well suck me dry and call me...dusty

Last time I spoke to you......you were worrying about busting the 200 mark...........222.3 .....that is outstanding...you bloody killed that 200 ! :D

Now I suppose your gunna worry about the 230 mark

Seriously, well done Al, great to see the gun is performing, so how satisfiying is it shooting a score like that with a home made stock ?

The highest score I believe you could get would be 302.5.

This would consist of five targets of 60.5 points being made up of 50.5 points (five fly hits) for score and 10 points for group.

I was watching a couple of the details, and the wind was a real bitch; while the 200 and 300 meter flags were indicating a left-to-righter, about 8 o'clock around the 10-15kph (to my reading of them), the 400 flag was swinging from the above through the 6 o'clock around to about 3 o'clock and gusting up to 25 or more....
Ugh!

Not quite mate ... the fly hits do not add up to points ie 10 fly hits in a match is not 1 point. All the .1 does is indicate a fly hit and can be used to break ties.

The highest score per target is as you state 60.5. A match is 5 targets so the maximum score is 300.25.

I think the highest score to date is about 256 by aJR

Albow, a picture of the roller extraction setup would be helpful for all those with the Omark extraction blues.

Tony Z has the patent turned up for it already :D :P :D

Actually I will try to get some over the weekend cause it sure does help. Once the piccy's are up you can tell the folks how you did it and how it is constructed.

Hi all

Below are the piccy's of the roller extractor that Tony fit to my action. Initially this was not on the rifle however with the load that I am currently running, during load development the cases were quite sticky and hard to extract.

Given the room on the Omark action the roller needed to be incorporated into the bolt which apparently made it quite tricky for Tony to actually fit and keep the timing right on the extraction.

The roller makes a huge difference with extracting my cases now as I am able to extract them like they have about 1.5 - 2gns less powder in them :D :D

All I can say is get one fitted as they are well worth it and I will let Tony explain the hows and what fores on installing / engineering it but here are the piccy's:
