2013 Southern Cross 1000yd BR Championship

As a result of the interest and support generated by the recent Southern Cross 1000yd BR Rendezvous, the Narromine Dubbo Rifle Club has reserved the 2nd weekend in July 2013 (13th and 14th) for a 2 day 4 target event which has been designated as the Inaugural Southern Cross 1000yd BR Championship.

The thursday and friday prior to the event have been allocated as practice and sighting days for attending competitors.

Competitor provision and erection of flags/wind indicators is most welcome on the N-D range. Unless the flags are livestock resistant, it is recommended that that they be dismantled or removed at the end of each days shooting.

Classes of competition will include :-

* IBS Heavy Gun and IBS Lightgun. (Blind Shooting)

* Standard Class Heavy Gun and Light Gun ( Marked Target Shooting)

* The Jim Clifford Trophy will again be awarded to the top group aggregate shooter in both the IBS LG and Standard LG classes of competition who uses either a 308 or 223.

Designated Rules of Competition

International HG and LG classes - IBS rules reference - re rifle specifications/shooting procedures etc.(muzzle brakes permitted in both classes)

Standard Classes -Marked Target- Equity Based rules reference
LG - rifles up to 10kg overall weight ( includes all F class rifles/bipods)- muzzle brakes permitted
HG - unlimited weight limit- muzzle brakes permitted.

Proposed Daily Schedule - Saturday and Sunday

9.00am- 1000yd BR SCC Match to commence - 6 minute sighting period - 10 minute record target period.

Depending upon final entry numbers- a maximum of 8 details ( 5 competitors per detail) will be run during the day.

A BBQ and counselling services will be provided at the end of each days competition.

Prior nomination is essential.

If the maximum quota of nominated competitors (40) is reached, additional nominations will be placed on a reserve list. Fluctuations in entries/withdrawals will be adjusted accordingly between then and now.

the remaining N-D 1000yd BR matches for this year are scheduled for the 16th of september and 11th of november.

apart from the the 2013 July SCC, the club has not determined next years match dates.

apologies for this, mate, they normally do this at the end of the year.

i will let you know once it is sorted.

PS - if you happened to travel up with Jacko, you could possibly provide "bolt security".

cheers
dave

Great news Dave. I believe there will be 11 shooters from the North for next years pseudo Nationals  Maybe 12. Word traveled fast and many wish to get there if they can.

Dave i know it has been spoken about in different circles but the Standard class criteria you posted there is one of common sense by allowing an unmodified FClass rifle to compete in a match very familiar to what they already know. It is no wonder you have so many FClass guys at your matches. Great foresight from you and your club.

yes mate.

equity and commonsense is what it is all about!!!! :D :D

as you have rightly stated, running the Standard class 1000yd BR allows F class shooters the chance of trying 1000yd BR without having to build specialist rifles and it is also a positive in terms of evaluating and possibly improving wind reading skills on a smaller target.

We are more than happy if the F class shooters continue to come to N-D and shoot in the Standard Class events. Likewise, if they prefer, they also have the option of shooting in the International events.

As was hopefully evident during your visit, we respect the right of competitors to choose and shoot in the class of their choice.

From the feedback we have recieved since introducing 1000yd BR at N-D, it is overwhelmingly obvious that our regulars and guests also approve and support the the principle of recognising and rewarding the various classes as separate identities.

We are proud of the fact that we offer prizes for the 6 main classes of 1000yd BR competition and throw in a couple of extras to boot!!!!!

cheers
dave

saturday the 10th of november will be a 1000yd target rifle and f class event with the 1000yd BR on the sunday. ( september 15th and 16th same deal)

it would be great if you are able to attend :D :D

going on past november weather, a hat , sunscreen, cool drinks in an esky etc would be a necessity.

also ,you won't have to shoot any "barrel warmers". 40+ degree november days are not unusual.

cheers
dave
