G"Day All,
Well it's been a long process and today I was able to bolt it all together and now eagerly await the final Ammo testing and tuning at 50mtrs.
I briefly put a few shots thru it last week when I was at the gunsmiths at 25mtrs just to test function and to see if we had to modify anything, as it turned out we did need to take a bit of wood out below the ejection port as cases were falling under the drop away ramp and being a problem, all fixed now.
I got it home and gave the stock a mahogany stain and then a few coats of lacquer, as you can see im no rolph harris but its funtion that gets me happy.
The initial testing produced some small groups but the extra 25mtrs and outdoors conditions will sort it out, after firing two sighter/warmer groups it produced as follows x5 shot group in order-
Eley Match- .070
.095
.081
Rifle was not cleaned and went to Lapua X-act as follows-
.071
.080
.075
The exact chambered alot easier than the Eley which I think was due to the wax on eley rounds.
I know its a different ball game at 50 but it shows promise.
There was alot in mounting this rifle in a benchrest stock as its just not designed to do so easily.
Overall im happy so far.!!
More to follow as I get it up to speed.
Any questions im happy to answer.
Regards
