Annie ready to go!

Started as a Anschutz 1710DHB, and had the trigger done and the stock added.
Shane did the bedding and trigger, but a few hours sanding and then some nice matte Olive in 2 pack and here is the result.
Shooting tomorrow for the first time. Plan on using it in a few club matches and 200m Rimfire Fly!
The barrel doesnt perform.. Lilja it will be!
Anschutz 1710DHB action, trigger, and barrel
ProCal SPG laminate stock
1 piece base, Lynx rings
Leupold 8.5-25X50 L/R scope

Waste of a nice scope... least its getting used.... it wasnt mounted on a rifle for a long while.
30mm tube means enough elevation to 200m, which is a plus. 25X means I will be able to see the holes...

Its harder than you think when it comes to choosing a colour for a stock. Thats why I have chosen a nice laminate on my others, as a clear cloat is all that is needed.
I was going a bright white with heavy blue pearl.... but after painting it Olive green, I am happy as the colours look good together.
Didnt get a chance to shoot it today,,, first Sunday of the month is for clays......... cant use the range...GAY!

Look like a nicely constructed rifle.
but i also find the color a bit iffy (but if you like it then thats all that matters)

I think your scope chose is good for a gun that is to be shot over 200m no
matter what calibre, aim small hit small.
I think scopes are like engines, the more power the BETTER!!!

Mate its not about the colour, its not about the scope choice ... the scores & groups are what matter.
It looks like a rig that will score if you do your part .. well done

Ammo.. well I dont know yet.. I have 3 packets of target rounds (RWS/ELEY).. all around the $20 per pack. One of them better shoot...
It will be shot the coming weekend at Batemans Bay in 200M Rimfire Fly.. but I see a small problem...
The rifle has not been shot.... not even sighted on.. Dont know what ammo it likes... and I have only Wednesday this week to try it out!!
Could be interesting times..
The colour... I tihnk you need to see it.... The paint in the can looked absolutely horrible... but my spray painter mate was laughing it looked that bad... Once it hit the stock... he said straight away F^%#$^, thats the ticket!! I think he was even proud of himself. As said though, what one likes another doesnt!

Hi Ackley, I have a laminated stock on my project currently with Shane and have no experience finishing a laminated stock with clearcoat. Have you got any tips?

Sand Sand Sand...... The prep work is the most important.
For a clear, you want all sanding marks out of the wood. If its rough, start with 80 grit, then to 240, and from there.. well 800 would do the job. You want it to feel super smooth.. and keep sanding to a minimal around the edges etc as you dont want to lose the stock shape.
Use a sanding block also!!!
Make sure the bedding area is covered up.. and the stock dust free and paint away, 2 pack is definitely the way, as it drys hard!
What laminate stock is it?

It's a Geoff Slee Remington 40XB shape. Looks very nice with all the grain but very porous.
Does clear have to be sprayed on or is there a brush method?

It really does look good
maybe try some RWS-R100, everything shoots with that stuff

If the stock is fairly porous you can use a little 'sanding sealer' to fix the problem. You pretty much paint it on...let it dry..and sand it smooth again. I raises all the 'fluffy' fibres and 'seals' the wood. Might take a couple of coats but.
Once done if you want a super smooth finish give it a go with some steel wool.....magic
