Gudday to all.
Just a reminder that the Wagga FLY weekend will be held on Sat 27th and Sun 28th August 2011 at the Wagga (Big Springs) SSAA Range about 25kms South of Wagga.

Prizes include a custom stainless target barrel threaded, chambered and fitted in your choice of calibre. The chance to own a brand new Miroku Model 10 12g U/O supplied by our sponser POWER AMMO Wagga, custom hand made ammo boxes and of course trophies and fly patches. There is even a hand made prize for last place. Its a fair dinkum prize NOT a wooden spoon. Custom and factory classes. Costs to be advised very soon.

OK, anyone who knows about Wagga will be asking about our extension to 500m. To give everyone an update, we received the approval and have "relocated" 200 metres worth of trees. The Earth work commences on Wednesday (subject to weather as we dont want to get a 45 tonne bulldozer bogged) and the target frames are being made as we speak.

We are HOPING to have the 500m range up and running by our fly shoot. If so we will have 17 benches out to 500m. If so the COF (course of fire) will be a 300m FLY on the Saturday and a 500m fly on the sunday. If we run into dramas with the 500m extension and earth works it will be a 300m FLY on the Saturday and a 300m GROUP shoot on the Sunday.

Range will be open Friday for flag set up and for anyone who wants to camp. Full undercover large clubhouse with hot showers and toilets. Power by genny.

Very relaxed and social atmosphere and a great weekend. Newcomers welcome and we are happy to help people get organised and on paper etc. If you havent shot a fly shoot feel free to come and have a go.

Righto if you've read this far and are into fly shooting Ive got a question? The Wagga SSAA is proposing that our fly shoots will be 300m on Sat and 500m on Sun.
Question one: Would you prefer 300 then 500 or 500 then 300.
Question two: If we put together a 200m RF Fly on the Fri, and called it the great FLY WEEKEND would you guys be interested in the RF FLY. We are happy to say start at lunchtime to give people time to get to the range on the friday morning.

Thanks guys. Look forward to seeing everyone here at Wagga and any questions just PM me.

I would run the 500 on Saturday and the alternate event on Sunday. Reasoning is similar to the 500m then 200 on Sunday you usually finish the shorter yardage earlier which lets people get on the road sooner also allows anyone who just wants the 500 event to get home for Sunday .. pays to have some brownie points sometimes.
Just my thoughts.

Nice work guys... Count me in for both days.... or how do I nominate???

As for what days... I would be thinking, if I were travelling.... I would rather shoot the 500m Saturday.. then 300m Sunday. Only cause then the 300m should finish up a bit quicker and allow you to get away eariler.

Bring on that 500m... looks like your range will be my home range too.

Cheers

Hi,
Nice work and I can't wait to come there and shoot your "Fly". I think 200 rimfire, 300 fly and 500 Fly are all great events and I would love to shoot all three..... but I think that for most of us married folk three events on consecutive days would eat up too many brownie points....

500 Fly seems to be a big draw card and easily helps numbers for a 2 gun weekend.... maybe 2 each year ? one 500 & 200 and one 500 & 300 ?

Also I think 3 events together may kill your volunteers and the organisers....... bloody lot of work....

Cheers & I look forward to seeing your range.

Anthony

Good reports from the blue heeler on the 500m progress, D8 starting monday and the targets are under way , they would still like more comment on what you would prefer to shoot , 500m saturday or sunday, they are not having a road built to change targets but they are saying a SPEED WAY so target change will be quick :D , Chop. ps, i think they are pushing for hot showers to by the way.

Run the shorter running format on the Sunday to allow guys to return home earlier.

500m Saturday, 300m Sunday.

I am looking forward to the range, and if up and running before the comp will come up for a look!

Cheers
