Story goes like this, Got 2 packets each of 6 lots of ammo I wanted to test. With the Broughton fitted I started 10 shot groups over the Chrono, then a couple days later 5 shot groups over the chrono.
Changed barrels to the Lilja, a couple Days later 5 shot groups over the chrono, another couple days and last set of groups over the chrono.

Made my selection based on the results and just tonight played with the tunner with the chosen lot.
Started by comming in 1 full turn on the tunner from where I had set it for SK Rifle Match, fired 3 or 5 shot groups till I was getting happy. Was tired so I stopped and will continue tunning over the next couple weeks.
Finished the night with my 3rd grade ammo SK Rifle match and my second grade ammo Midas+.

G"day Brett,
I suppose the question to be asked is why the extensive test on SK rifle match.??
Its pretty much low rate ammo at best and I would never use it in a club or comp shoot,Practice is all it would maybe be good for and even then I dont think you learn much from practising with such low grade ammo.
I was told once by a certain shooter that does the rounds that if you are going to practice dont bother with rubbish ammo.!!
I sure would like to get a couple of them probes, where can I obtain some and at what $$$.??
Regards
Native

Native,
Thats no normal SK rifle match, Hand selected from the factory in germany, shot better then all of the M+ lots at the factory, and as good as most of the X-act. Look closly at the ammo speeds it has the smallest Extreme spread. now that I have the rifle tunned I consistantly shoot between 246 and 248 on the IRB or RBA card, plenty good enough for training.
Have a look at the 2nd last 5 shot group, thats what the ammo can do.
I agree one should practice with the best ammo they can, in theory with their match ammo. This is the best I can afford to practice with, and after the extensive testing I have an understanding how it compares to my match ammo.

Thankfully the guy that went to the lapua factory owed me a few favours.
Probes, Native asked about the probes, I have not costed them reciently but roughly
$10 SKate board wheels
$10 Arrow shaft
$5 Aluminium pole
$15 Assorted hardware, threaded rod, nuts, derlerin.
$??? The bearings, that were the cost is cheep as chips $12 for a set of 4, but they only last 1 rainy day. $25 Full stainless, $40 stainless ceramic, $60 Full ceramic.
I used the full stainless so $55 in parts for each probe and about an hour to put them All together.
The drink bottle on top is free. I hear rumours BRT (Elliot's) are doing a simular probe but I have not seen one to confirm the rumour.
I do not have the time for another production run for awhile.
