Hi All

Today saw us shoot our second 1000yd match for the year but there were a number of new rifle combinations on the line that is seeing some experimenting happening for the new season. There were a number of average groups, a couple of reasonable groups and one very nice group. The conditions started out fairly unpredictable and stayed that way for the afternoon with the winds gusting pretty well, to a stiff 15 - 20 that was continually swirling down range meaning that you could look at any one of the flags to get a dozen different directions indicated.

In HG JR won for group and score with one very nice group that went 7.3" for a 99.4 in score to also give the small group and high score in HG.

LG saw Tony Z come out on top of the pile for group and score with 8.55" group agg and a score agg of 95. Small group was 7.190" from Tony Z and high score was 49.3 by myself.

Full results are up in the results section and next week will see us shoot 550yd BR on Saturday followed by the first of our postals with Virginia. See you all there.

Hi all , well 1st match of the year and i must admit to being a little rusty to start with .. As Al reported the winds were quite low for this time of the year , i screwed up target # one,but .. Got tricked by this little black bird that landed on one of the main wind flags i was concentrating on ,he perched ontop of the daisy wheel and not being completely steady he slipped off causing the wheel to spin madly ,just spotting this mass movement i held off for the last 4 shots thinking the breeze had picked but alas it had tricked me .. Had i shot the New Marked target system some have used in the south i would have had plenty of time to notice that blasted little black bird and would not have got caught.. Anyway ,ignored the bloody wild life and got a keeper for the second target ,a 99.4 ,4th highest score ever for me .. Bring on the next postal i say ..JR..Jeff Rogers

Well done again to all who set up the range today. I think that the lone flag we are using now should be placed somewhere else, it doesn't seem to be working, ever. Anyway, the 308 i am running for this season seems to be doing just fine for its first outing. A little hot with the load, where "Lapua" is now permanently reverse printed onto my bolt face, but the rifle is showing some real potential. Didn't see any trace of mirage where i could see all my shots clearly on the target, same as last match. Once again Townsville has put on some perfect shooting conditions. No wind, no mirage and a nice cool 25 degrees and 60% humidity. A very pleasant match it was.
