G"day All,
Just wondering if anyone is shooting rimfire on a TRA/nswsara range and using proper wind flags and not those useless sticks with a ribbon on them.??
The rules state that only TRA approved wind indicators are to be used as supplied by the club, no personal flags.
Whats your views on this,I would like to use proper flags but the club is reluctant to change from stick ribbons.

The cloth-stripped flags are the approved flags, NH, and aren't just put out there because they're cheap to make in bulk.

It's not that hard to read off them. I'd love to put my BRT flags out, but at the end of the day, I can read the cloth strip flags about the same as I can with the BRT's. If you're planning to attend TRA/NSWSARAI/TRV/TRQ/TSA events, you'll need to get used to reading them.

Custom flags are useful (nee required) for the RBA/IRB targets, which are more exacting than the TRA cards.

Those cloth strips are a pain at times, especially if they're truly perished and without colour, or blend in with the background. Also, they're difficult to read when they're sopping wet - you just _know_ there's a breeze out there, but the flag isn't showing anything. They outright lied to us down at Canberra recently, when the snow iced them over!
