LG and HG 1000yd rifle rules

Post by RDavies »

Just checking on a few things as a freind is building up some new toys. Are muzzle breaks allowed in Australian 1000yd rules? Any other limitations I need to know about for LG or heavy gun?

Gooday Rod,
LG is 17 pounds neat all up weight and allows muzzle brakes, but not the type that has the gas rebound back toward the shooter past 90 degrees. Stock configurations are open where there is no restriction on fore end width or profile. Rests are as per general BR configuration where they cannot be connected and the rear bag must contact the bench except for where a spacer is used to allow for range incline.

HG is unlimited and at this time muzzle brakes are not allowed. Front and rear rests cannot be connected but the rear rest can have elevation and windage adjustments.

With FClass rifles wishing to participate that have a bipod fitted, the rules are clear, no bipods at all. All competitors must shoot off a bench. Prone or offhand shooting is not allowed in either class.
Spotting by an assistant is allowed only during the sighting period, after that the shooter is on his own. Only the required number of cartridges is allowed on the bench once the record period starts. A cartridge that fails to fire is plain bad luck where a DNF is recorded. This last rule may seem to suck but it came about from the very real possibility to use another round to gauge wind drift using the butt stop splash as an indicator.

Thanks for this Tony. I wasnt sure of whether HGs could have muzzle brakes and didnt know light guns could have any stock width.
Thanks again.
