Looked like a top day.
Light breezes,hmmmm.
Those smiley patches will be hard to come by methinks.
Well done all you blokes.
Peter's rifle stock is very reminiscent of DG's.(a story there perhaps.)
cheers,
Macca

I was thinking the same thing........

When I read "308 traditional class", that wasn't what I was expecting to see.

Any other photos of this rifle? Looks like a floated action, but the rest is all quite mysterious.......

Thanks for the write up.

cheers, curan

Love the range you have there at Dubbo fella's, do you get the odd pressure spike from the direct sunlight on the ammo boxes?

knackers

yes mate, in summer ( for the november match and the 2011 march match especially) normal direct sunlight/temperatures are a concern and need to be allowed for.

we had a number of shade structures on site for the benchline and to protect shooters/spectators, but it was to windy to erect them on the day.

malcolm, curan

re peter's 308, macca is correct as to it's origins.

accuracy takes a precedent over aesthetics at times.

originality, being different, experimenting, self satisfaction etc etc are just some of the advantages of LRBR.

this not only applies to rifles/cartridges/stock design, but to all other associated areas.

more people should do it!!!

you also do not need to have the latest, trendiest, scopes, equipment etc which can cost a zillion $, to be competitve in this game.

apparently some people have been known to even use ruger and savage actions!

a threesome of Mr Kay's extremely precise chambering and barrel fitting gunsmithing services.

280 ackley, 308, 30x57Improved.

the 308 was originally designed for f-class std, but was then lightened to make Lightgun class in LRBR.

all shown, easily highlight, the owner as the weak link in the accuracy chain.

Am I mistaken or is that the same 30x57 that shot a world record group in a Fly match some years ago.
I would also bet a fair amount that the 280 and 30 cal have won a few matches here and there ...
Seems the nut behind the but can shoot a bit after all Dave.

Well done getting the range up and going. I will try to make a shoot up there next year sometime.

I love seeing a gun which is different than the norm, not just built out of a Catalogue.
BTW, Traditional, means shooting blind, as in targets dont get pulled between shots, while standard is like F class, targets get pulled and marked after each scoring shot.
