I was not there unfortunately but spoke to some who were. Conditions were very difficult to put it mildly. Some big name shooters copped a flogging.

I was at Belmont and was one of those who copped a flogging
In short, Brian Litz from USA won Target rifle
Ernie Mace won F class standard and Marty Lobert won F class Open.
The conditions for the 1st few days were fairly mild, with some good scores, then on the last day the weather was very tricky, with a few realy bad sections where lots of misses and low scores came up for a few minutes. Once when I got a particularly bad shot, I stopped and looked at all the other targets and saw about 4 misses and a pile of 2s on A grade TR and F std targets. Some TR shooters dropped 30 positions in 1 range, while Australias best F std shooter got a 35/60 during a particularly rough patch.
As usual the range complex was first class, even the overseas visitors were suprised at how good it is, better than any thing they have seen. It is certainly the range to hold the world championships next year.
It would have been good to get a few more shooters in F class, when you consider how many 1000yd and Fly rifles are in Brisbane which slot perfectly into F class open. The prizes on offer were good, and I got a good spotting scope and rifle scope which I was actualy going to get anyway.

There were teams from USA, UK, NZ and South Africa which was good.
A good fun shoot.

Good shooting, 3 days of comp and it came down to 2 points from 1st to 3rd. in Open. I share your thoughts regarding many long range rifles capable of shooting this comp. The gunsmiths can't keep up with orders.....where are all these shiny rifles?
