Re: N-D November 1000yd BR
I,m hoping to go to my first 1000yd BR shoot as well. As a newbie, it will be a bit of a learning curve, but I hope to have a bit of fun with the mighty Dasher anyway. Any other here intending to go?

Re: N-D November 1000yd BR
Well I have finaly tried 1000yd BR after years of meaning to get out to one. Had a great time and will be getting out to a few more at Dubbo/Narromine next year. I dragged 2 new shooters along with me, who are both keen to get out for another go. Only problem is, I have to start saving more money as the conversation on the way home was about the ideal 1K BR Heavy gun we are going to build up between us for next year.
The conditions were pretty tricky, with the wind changing speed and direction regularly. (usualy just after the sight in period). It made it all fun (well the misses werent so fun) , so it wasnt just a case of the most accurate gun flogging everyone else.
18 Shooters shot this time and it was good to catch up with a group of shooters I havent met before. It was all nice and relaxed with help available to get people onto target.
See you all there next year.

Re: N-D November 1000yd BR
Congratulations to Tim Pavey, Rod Davies, Barry Morgan and Clive Simpson for their efforts in yesterday’s 1000yd BR match.
To be able to keep all their shots on paper and achieve their results in such difficult conditions was quite an effort.
The remaining fourteen competitors experienced educational winds which taught us all a big lesson!!!!
Rod and Tim, thanks for the kind words and for your assistance during and after the match. We appreciate and do not take for granted the time, effort and expense that visitors are prepared to make in order to attend our competitions.
It was also a pleasure to meet Will and Jeremy and look forward to you all returning to the N-D range in the future.
To put it mildly, the Narromine Dubbo Rifle Club and its’ members are well satisfied with the support and participation that 1000yd BR has received in Central Western NSW.
Details of our match dates for March, May, July, September and November 2011 will be circulated in the near future.
A special thankyou is extended to Mr Peter Kay for providing prizes yesterday and for his commitment to sponsor our 1000yd BR matches next year.
The challenge for 2011 is for someone to achieve the first International “Smiley” award on the N-D range.
Young Davo Brown deserves special recognition for achieving the small group of the day at 6.929”.
To do this he shot his 308 target rifle with peep sights from the benchrest.
BTW Davo is member of the Australian U25 team that has recently returned from Bisley.
Another first for the N-D club.
cheers

Gee guys, bloody well done. Great numbers at the match and what a shame it was such a tough day. Well done there Tim and David Brown and Rod. Finally got to that 1k match hey Rod? Well done to David to hit a six incher for his first match, mate most people would kill for that group and some have been trying for years and still haven't got it.
Again well done to all and thanks to dg for the Smiley patch.

Dave, maybe you were on the money when you said 1K BR was addictive. One of the blokes I took along for his first 1K BR shoot has got the ball rolling, bought an action and barrel to build a 300WSM heavy gun.

Re: N-D November 1000yd BR
That is great stuff Rod. I have said it for a long time, a new shooter to long range is way better off going to heavy gun first up. It is far and away the quickest way to learn how to read conditions with as it takes away the majority of the human error. Light guns are so sensitive to bag /rest configurations where the slightest changes effect impact considerably. This weekend is the last 1K for us for the year and it is my last in LG. There will be a new HG for next year and where i thought i might get an easy run with the LG, it has turned out to be more work than what i wished for. HG is just so much simpler and in the end, not really that much more expensive.
