What rest to buy!

My Pro Cal front rest does not have enough elevation to get me on target at the 500m mark at Melbourne.

Also, my PPC will be ready to go very soon, so my new rest has to accomodate the needs of the PPC.

Hence, I was thinking co-axial joystick type.

The heaviest rifle on it will be 17lbs.

The Seb rest looks the goods, just I still dont think there will be enough elevation in it for Melbourne.

Any ideas?

AI,

You only need to change the bolts in the legs of your rest to be longer....a longer stem might be the way to go...the only problem with a longer stem is getting the top low enough shoot 100/200yds....a Seb might handle a 17lb gun but definitely wont handle a heavy gun...I shot with Seb in Brisbane and the rest wouldn't handle Elliots heavy gun even with the friction adjustments tighten all the way up...the price is now over $900 so a couple of bolts would be a better option for the time being.

I have just email Seb about his rest, and if he can modify it a little for me. I know he can though. I am wanting longer legs with a great diameter.

The heaviest rifle going onto the Seb Rest is 17lbs, so I think it wont have a problem with weight at all!

To all of you that shoot to the 500m at Melbourne, what is the height of your rest from the bench to the flat on the bag when in the on target position at 500m?

I need this to work out definitely how much longer I need the legs. I do not want to increase the stem length for the reason you say.

7mmmag, he has made a nice rest, just I after a coaxial to be usd for both short range and long.

AI, I have been working on a Barry Edgley rest for the last coupla days ,Nothing wrong with it's action and quality .. I guess he still makes em ,don't know a price ..JR..Jeff Rogers.ps i have his ph #

When I made my fly gun stock I kinda fashioned the butt MBR style, I found a lower rear bag fixed the problem with my rests height

I already have a low bag, Its 2.75" from memory....

The Seb rest that I am buying will have 6" elevation screws that are 12mm in diameter. That will give me a height of 10" from bench to flat of bag.

As you would know, the height of the elevation screws wont be a problem when the rest is low, as the centre rotates.

Could have one by the end of the month!!

Bought the Seb rest today... and few things with it.

AI...your cool with the bag then......how many$ ?

I have been thinking of making a joystick rest but...

A. I am too lazy

sooo
B. I keep putting it off

and
C. I Dunno where to start

now...
D. I think I should buy one

Would be nice to go from sighter to target quickly in short range, but I don't see any advantage in fly if the range pulls and plugs the sighter target ...as some do

$1180 all up.

$875 for the rest and front bag
$50 for the modified elevation screws.
$80 for the ammo holder
$130 for the bigfoot rear bag
$45 for the postage.

I plan on using the bigfoot bag with the PPC.

I know it isnt needed for the Fly Shoots, but I just want the one rest to do it all. Then I get familar with the one rest, and dont have to swap between two.

Its the first joystick rest I will have owned, so I am looking forward to it!

G'Day all,
after doing the BRT course at little river prior to the nats (didn't stop the brain fade thou!) I saw the advantages of the co-ax rests, and shot my LV in SPT100 with a borrowed co-ax. So much so I bought a SEB and am convinced that there is something in them. The engineering is superb.
It will certainly smooth up my shooting.
