Already got my entry form in and looking forward to it!
A mate whittled up some 30MOA riser blocks to go under my rail on the Barnard, now got 47MOA taper
and the scope zero's at 500m, the 6.5x55 Ackley should still be supersonic at 1500...it's gonna be fun!
Cheers
Dave Groves.

Ackley Improved, come on take the drive, how often do you get the chance to shoot at 1000,1100,1200 and 1500 yds each day?

Well, the shoot has been run and won. The Coonabarabran range is brand new and they are already looking at extending it to 1 mile. 1500yds just wasnt enough. Most of the rifles used were 6.5s, 7mms, with a few other 300WSMs and even a 243AI. The top few shooters lost more points with elevation than with wind, so there will be some tuning work before the next shoot. Rifles which went very well at normal short range F class (300-1000 yds) started showing the occaisional wild up or down shot every now and then. Once everyone got their zeros, there was some pretty good shooting for the conditions, especialy since it took quite a while between shots as targets were pulled.
It was a good fun shoot which I recommend to any of the long range loonies from F class, Benchrest, fly shooting etc.

Any idea of the biggest cal you can use on that range? Would be interesting if it went back to a mile....

I think the biggest caliber is 8mm, which means, no 338 lapuas which is a shame. Nothing to stop you from necking a 338 Lapua down though. I dont think realy big calibers are needed though, with all the wind flags. Stretching it back to 1 Mile will be interesting.
