Sorry gambling is against my religion...not that silly either...try and con Elliot he could use some cash....what are you doing at home? thought you would be there practising by now.

No mate, driving over tomorrow with Milan. It's only 1200 clicks.
Actually I don't usually practice much when I get to the range. I just tend to fire a couple of groups to make sure that nothing has moved.
Fortunately with the good Mulwala powders, I don't have to alter the load between Canberra and Adelaide.
See you Friday

Not really mate. It's usually Rob Carnell that runs the cash option - they won't let me play since I fleeced them in Brisbane a few years ago. Maybe a good thing as I have been just cruising since then. Must be getting too old for this. Shit no... I'm only 50 something.Mick wrote:The gauntlet has been thrown down.
Things become interesting....
Might come for a visit on Saturday arvo if I get out of work at a decent time.

JR
Stevo scraped through OK I guess.....as he always does
Jimbo must have got a shot in the arm or somewhere on the Saturday night as he came good on the Sunday
Kenny junior came 51st and could have done so much better but apparently his old man is a dickhead and not worth listening to
AI, Jugs,Festa, Shano and Mr Tucker(sorry dunno his user name, if any) had varying results due to being 'caught' just like the rest of us...next year were gunna kill em fellas
I am certain all had a good long weekend just the same.

Jeff,
What can I say...Jimbo and I had to hold up the flag for the Aus Varmint crew...conditions were on the tricky side but better then any I've shot at Canberra since I started shooting there.
I was surprised to end up 4th in Heavy but there were some awful groups shot by some good shooters...shot my LV rifle all weekend and was very happy to beat 60 odd HV rifles...looks like I have a Krieger HV barrel for my Bat that wont get worn out.

Yeah, Sunday was interesting, as we shot the 200 yards in the morning. After having a couple of errant shots on the Saturday in LV, I was on a mission.
I went back to the Stolle (1990 model) to which I had PSECO fit a new Kreiger 14 twist barrel. It had only 46 shots through it before Sunday. Anyway, right from the A target it was obvious that it was a tack driver, and I managed to keep in front of that Elliott bloke for an aggregate win. You might be interested to know that I used some Rooster 67 grain boat tails - never heard of them? Well, they are made by a bloke in WA who scored the name Rooster "because he was always crowing". Be that as it may, he makes a good bullet, but they are narrow at the back end and shoot best in the tighter barrels like the Kreiger.
Canberra is a tough range, but in my opinion is one of the more honest one's. It's big, open and relatively flat (compared to some), and you have to really watch the flag angle as well as the velocity.
People have been known to get utterly destroyed there and won't go back - well, that's a losing mentality. It you want to be the best, you must compete with and beat the best - simple as that. Make wind and mirage your friend - it works for me.

A bit off topic but just worked out my fuel economy for my trip home from Canberra...Fueled up with the 10% ethanol fuel from the first servo heading into Canberra from the range...drove very conservatively for the first time in my life...got to Wellington and had a camp around 11.30pm...woke up at 4.45am and drove the last 4 hours home...trip was 700kms...drove around town here and did another 50kms before fueling up...filled the tank up till it was up to the neck which took 50litres...so by my calculation I have done 750kms on 50litres of fuel which works out at 42.5mpg....being and old fart I haven't worked out the km/100litres and dont really care.

Jimbo,
TonyZ,
I might give the little 30 a run in March at Sydney, just depends if I can make it or not. It has potential, I just need to learn how to handle it

Jeez ya know...sometimes I think he's just playing around and isn't really trying at all, kind of just trying different things out if you know what I meanI managed to keep in front of that Elliott bloke for an aggregate win
Yep I agree with that, there's no substitute for 'trigger time' and learning.People have been known to get utterly destroyed there and won't go back - well, that's a losing mentality. It you want to be the best, you must compete with and beat the best - simple as that. Make wind and mirage your friend - it works for me.
