Hey guys here are some directions to the leeton range.

Once in Yanco you will be on Main Avenue which takes you towards Leeton. About 1 1/2 km's from yanco on main ave you will turn right onto Merungle Hill rd.

Follow merungle hill rd for approx 2.2km and then turn right onto McKay rd. Follow this road for about 400-500 metres and on your left is the entrance to the range( sign posted). Go through the gate and follow the road up and over the hill past the shot gun club and down to the range.

If you are comming in via Leeton you will be on Yanco avanue which becomes main avenue, so you will then turn left onto merungle hill road and go as above.

Mitch, yes mate the gauge is here.
cheers,
Shane

Gday Minnivinne,
Mate it starts at 9.00am each day and you can shoot one day or both days.

200m rimfire on saturday and 300m centrefire on sunday. Take your pick or come to both!

Nomination cost is $25 for one day or $35 for both.

The rules are at the top of page 3 of this thread, posted by Rinso. They should explain it all. But ask if you have a question.

Any ammo, Almost any rifle , we can go up to .45 cal at the Leeton range.
Depending on what you are shooting your basic gear will be rifle, bolt, ammo, front rest or bipod and rear rest. Then what ever else you may want like cleaning gear etc.

Bring hearing protection.

NOTE to ALL comming, be sure to have your shooters licence with you. We have to sight your licence to allow you to shoot.
cheers,
Shane

Thanks for that advice Jeff, what you say makes perfect sense, now that it has been pointed out. I will fish it out of the box and do the washer trick. That bag is very hard, what is the best stuff to fill it with? It contains sand at the moment.

As I mentioned on another thread, that rifle is set up for F Open, but I have never used it for competition. I have got rid of that scope and now have a 6-26x56 Hakko on it - still not real flash but it would do until I started hitting somewhere on the target. Would the Anschutz rail in the forend cause a problem running over a front rest if I was to use it for Fly?

The Caldwell LR Rock rest OK for Fly? - it seems to be the cheapest option to start out with.

Minivinne,
Mate the shoots will be finished around the 3.00pm mark each day or there abouts.

Not sure which is the quickest from Leeton. Being at Narrandera i go on the Sturt hwy when heading up your way. It takes just under 3 hours from narrandera to yass. Leeton is about 25 min from narrandera. Maybe some that has gone up via temora can chime in.
cheers,
Shane

Well Guys
I was hoping to make it up to Leeton on sunday but work has gone to the pack again and it looks like Ill be on call that weekend. :x
I havent really got my rifle sorted out either although thats not a real problem as I was wanting to put a few faces to a few names more than anything.
I was hoping to catch up with shane and see how my martini 357 cadet is coming along and discuss the next project as well.
Anyhow good luck to the Ausvarminters members going that will wave the flag for the rest of us.
Cheers Jethro

Minivinne, come to Leeton if you can, you will enjoy it and it is addictive.
Bring your only rifle, I'm going to be using a CZ .223 hunting rifle, with a Bi-pod and a rear bag and an 8 x 40 scope, cheap, nasty and I'm gunna clean up with it

I would really like to go but im not happy with my scope set up, seems Howa's scope mounts dont make allowences for short tubed scopes,
i need to find a one piece mount for my howa so i can slide my scope back far enough so i can have a comfortable grip on my rifle and still have a clear sight picture. as it is i have to lean right in to get a clear sight picture and it doesnt make for a good firing postion
