Yeah, but every PB is a little personal milestone, and I know how good it feels.

Re: been to the range.
Good job mate I' getting an ichy trigger finger, picked my rifle up on Friday night but has been bloody shit weather here over the last couple of days and some minor problems to work through so still have to run the new barrel in.
Oh well better to do it right the first time than stuff it up right.

Re: been to the range.
Just noticed this response sorry.. I run 42 of 09 in my old swede with the 140 ssts you mentioned before and they are pretty damn good for a hunting projectile shot a fly with it and the old 3-9 and when I finally put them on paper it was pretty good group of 4 reallysometime shooter wrote:what action and barrel are you running?? I would love to make an F open rifle on a improved 6.5 x 55. I remember a day down in Canberra when I was shooting silhouette and a bloke was sighting in a Ackley version with some handloads that he got with the rifle which were 125 partitions and they were really hooting along. In my old Howa with a 22 inch barrel went as high as 51 grains of 09 behind a 120 Taipan but that was the max load wasn't accurate.

Guys in the states have played with reloader powders and getting over 3200 with 140's sadly NIOA say they aren't bringing it in,rl26 I think it is. Got me going again so need to load up some more for the savage as I think I can run more 2213sc safely.

Nice shooting LoneRider.
A PB for myself on Saturday as well. Had a new Lilja heavy tapered profile barrel fitted to one of my Barnard actions for Fclass nearly 2 years ago. Finally got enough time off work and decent weather to do proper load development. We had 12 shooters out on the Saturday for 500 yards, a mixture of fullbore and F-standard. I happened to be the only one to shoot not only a possible but a double possible in flicky winds with a 60.6 and 60.2.

Re: been to the range.
FINALLY got to run my barrel in on Friday and Saturday morning and do a little bit of load development.
45.5 grns of 08 not bad but a bit of vertical 45.7 and tight 45.9 started to open up a bit but could have been me.
Anyway came back loaded up 30 or so rounds in case I needed a few to get on target at 800 yards.
First sighter a high 4 ensued, wind down and a low 4 ensued, hmm split the difference and 6 ring for 1st scorer.
Wind and mirage up and down for the first stage, missed a mirage change and a 4 which hurt 55.3 for the first stage.
Second Stage second last down the mirage has gone the wind picked up but stay'd pretty constant first sighter 6 second sighter X so two on. Finished up with a 58.1 so pretty happy with that as so far still have only put 40 rounds through the barrel. Load is pretty mild but not need to open it up for a little while.

Re: been to the range.
Yeah I was running up to 46.1 of 08 in the old barrel. Not going to push it just yet not for a couple of hundred rounds, read an article where he does load development at 700 rounds after the barrel is run in and has settled down. I started with 45.5 in the old 28 inch barrel and that was good out to 900 yards so an extra 2 inch's and a bit more powder should be fine.
Re: been to the range.
I was having trouble getting 2208 to be consistent in 2 barrels I have. One Krieger done 800 rounds and a Lilja done 200 rounds. Switched to 2206H and everything is good. Shot a 120.8 at 500 last week and then this week at 600 shot another PB of 120.6 so can't complain with the load performance of 2206H. Will be trying it in any other barrel I get from now on. If the wind wasn't so flicky I think the X count would have been better.

Re: been to the range.
Wow nice going still chasing that first possible little alone a double possible. Will probably try some 06h at some stage. See what happens will be a few weeks again before I get to shoot a match, with a shut down this weekend and away the week after won't be back until 300 then away again in Canberra but might be able to shoot 300 metres at Canberra before the NSW Queens.
