Preparation!
Preparation!
Hi Guys , Have spent the last 2 weeks Qualifing Bullets and cases in preparation for the '07 season.. I will have exactly zero excuses for low scores and big groups this year because this is the best lot of components i have ever got together..The problem will be the operator.. The new lot of 187s are near perfect, streets in front of the last 2 lots,i preped 100 out of the 1st 500 ended up with only 2 lots ,1 of 25 and 1of 75 that are within 1 thou anywhere you can measure and i mean everyewhere.. I even check bearing surface on a flat base bullet (think about that) ,i had to check the checking gear because the dial would not move( Bergers are good for this).. The Lapua cases are just great this time ..No excuses for the first 600yd match..Oh and i found some more of the 1998 year lot of VV560 that i used to shoot the small one at 1000..Ye hah..JR..Jeff Rogers

Sounds like you are well on the way to a good season. Its a good piece of mind when you know all your components are up to scratch.
The BIB's really sound they are on the money. Only two distinct groups. Maybe that suggests that they have two machines making them? I know with the Sierra 107's, that they must have five machines making them because I had 5 groups of projectiles.
And, how did you source powder that is 8 years old?
Cheers

State secrets
AI, can't let everything out about components, lets say i have a pal that knows a bit about the gunpowder subject....Trust that the bullets come off the same machine at the same time ,batchs of BIBS regardless of size are only started if they can be completed at a single sitting, the most 187s in a single batch is about 1500 because of the time taken, this lot measures at .3081 (BS) and 3086 at PR .. The seperation i talk of is zero at Bearing Surface(BS) and only 1 thou on the B to O(.300), wieght was 187.0 to 187.3..I needed only to remove 6 thou to meplat uniform ..The .200 ogive area i also check at was this time perfect.. I grabed 2 of 185 Bergers to check the tooling was right and the B to O was .020 spread and the BS was .016 ,thats the 1st 2 i picked up ..I would like to recomend the Berger range of products to all of my Heavy Gun competitors this year, good luck ,you'll need it..JR..Jeff Rogers.........

Finally!
Hi All , Well i finally got to the range to test the new bullets/cases ..I have'nt shot at a target since NOV in Bris last year, had the barrel crowned and got new lot of BIBs ..The weather has only just come good after all the heavy rain with the winds coming down from 25 to 30 knots to a manageable 15 to 20 , still an easy 1/2 minute of predictable mirage ..The pic is of the 1st set of 5 (black dot) shot in the best conditions(just under the inch) and 10minutes later after a clean i shot the Fly target, conditions had changed ,wind from our bad side (right) had increased with a worse sight picture, it goes 1.7 ins .. Never got to test the seating depth like i wanted , would have been a waste of good bullets today.. C an't wait for the 600 day, fingers crossed for great weather..JR.. Jeff Rogers
Easy
Hi Keith, I reality this is easier to do on the plain target with the little POP guns.. The 6BR and friends are a lot simpler to get to shoot real tight for joe average than some of the big stuff.. Guys read in the US ,6.5 x 284,shit yea, got to get me me one of those.. Real world is that the amount of really screamin 284s in this country are few and far between.. With the inclusion of the 600 yd Benchrest in AUS ,i predict that this will be the year of the 6BR.I said ,Iii said, POP gun ,not POP corn ..Anybody game to put 1 into heavy gun ??bring it on..JR..Jeff Rogers

Cases!
AI, You know i could never shoot a generic cartridge even if it is as good as the little 6BR.. I have had a cartridge design (6mm Baby Redneck)for a while now just for RGs 98gnrs in a 10 twist, if my guess is right at about 3250 to 3300 fps at about 70000+psi will make the POP gun obsolete.. Besides i'm having to much fun with my biggun and it goes "BOOM" when you pull the trigger..JR..Jeff Rogers..ps.. if ya ever do this 30pounder pm me for some details or get on to Mark King in the US

I am tempted to put a Dasher into a heavygun.. 25-30lbs.. Stiller dropport action.. Rattle those 105-107's down range very quick...
You could even get away with using a 3" forend for it as well!!
When are you going to get one Jeff???
Cheers
