.17 HMR for competition?

Post by Sir Snipealot »

Hi there guys.
Just wondering if there are any comps that I can take part in with my Savage HMR.
The local RimFire Sillywets club won't let me take part in the fun and games, the Hummer scares them!

I am keen to get involved and don't mind travelling a bit.

Thanks,
Luke

As far as SSAA official competitions go, there is nothing on the books for the 17HMR at the moment. Remember that the rules for the competitions were written before the 17HMR was invented, so don't blame the clubs.

If you want to start a competition at club level ,there is nothing to stop you approaching the committee and asking if it can be done. Most new events start as club shoots and rise from there.

Our local club lets .22WMR's and .17HMR's into the comps and they just get scored in a different catergory. They asked all the members first and everyone said yep no worries.
