Kenny, you could never drive me nuts cause i've been fucked up for years  . This shootin thing has scrambled the brain for a long time and i have come to the conclusion that when one knows just a little they can get themselves into trouble, but when someone knows a lot, like i think to myself i do, fuck can i get into real trouble.
I tell everyone who asks go 30 cal something in either LG or HG. But what does dickwad do, screws around with every other caliber but. So dickwad has decided to go 30 JAT in LG and sell off the 25s, 6s, 7s and the like. I own one stretcher barrel gun, 30 cal, it shoots a record first outing. Tell everyone to use a tube and only one gun of mine has a tube barrel fitted. Have heaps of others, even ones with tuners and brakes fitted, but no, i go conventional.

Sometimes it takes a very long time for the light to come on.

So if you ask me now what to use in LG, i will say 30 JAT, and a stretcher tube fitted to the action face, Rem700 or Omark. Did a 6x47 recently and what a waste of time that was. The 280 AI is good, but the twist rate is too fast giving too much vertical drift.
Almost every single group or score record on our range, some of which are Aus records, has been done with slow twist 30 cals and bullets of average BC at around .520. Anyone who tells me that their .6 BC 6.5 or whatever is going to dust a good thirty, needs to look at the stats for both group and score worldwide.
And Kenny keep in mind that there are some good FB pills already available and sometime soon a 200 and 165 30 cal FB will be made here in Aus using mine and JRs die. We won't be making them so we have no commercial interest in it, but they will be made. The 165 should be around .520 BC and the 200 at between .560 and .570 . The 187 BIB is .525 BC or thereabouts.
Albow runs his JAT and 175s to about 3040 fps and stresses nothing. He fired the cases ten times each and never bumped the shoulder until he held me to gun point to make him a bump seater die combo. Now the cases fall out and no primer pocket expansion still. A 165 FB in a 14 or 15 twist should get an easy 3100. At that speed and a .520 BC coupled with the unmatched accuracy of the FB.......... Well you can run the numbers.
If you do go this route, get a 13 twist so the 175s can be used aswell as they are an exceptional bullet like the 200 SMK i have been using for years now..

I have spent years fucking around with hundreds of factory and wildcat cartridges in all sorts of bullet and twist rate combos. Short range and long range. This is what i know........

30 CAL 30 CAL 30 CAL 30 CAL 30 CAL........

Slow twist, slow twist, slow twist, slow twist........

Long barrel lifespan and most importantly, reliable accuracy over all types of conditions. If you can get over the recoil, which should not pose a problem in a LG, even less in FClass at 22 lbs, this is the choice.

TZ,

thanks for the input :D I have taken it on board.

I think I may take the dickwad route as well  I just can't get past the 7mm's  on paper they look so sweet and I guess in a perfect world they would be....we both know that any range in Aus is far from perfect but hey

I will be in Nashy' s ear today...then I have another to share the blame on

I have been looking at a few cases the US 'weirdos' have been playing with, I really want to 'make' my own but....just to be a wanker, seems there's not a not already done. I am talking...medium beltless magnum cases here...you have prolly heard all about them. I will get it all together and annoy you further :D

Brass and pills are the biggest bug-bear with this shit :?
