What sort of Benchrest comp???

Post by lowndsie »

Im just wondering if there's any comp's that cater just for the occasional shooter that can be competed in without too much of the fancy gear? I have a ruger VT in 25/06 that I thought might be ok for a bit of casual comp fun??? Nothing too serious of course.

Lowndsie,

Most clubs should cater for factory rifles. Tamworth & Gunnedah have a factory class. Gunnedah shoot 2 groups at 100 and 2 at 200. Tamworth shoots 3 groups at 100 and 3 at 200. You might have to ask around your area to see which clubs shoot benchrest.

With factory class does it matter if you've had bedding and trigger work done? Or does it have to be exact as if issued from the factory?

Lowndsie,

Gunnedah run 2 classes, factory and benchrest but you to have factory barrelled action so no re-barrels for factory class. Stock can be custom but not benchrest style. Bedding and trigger jobs allowed.

Tamworth run 2 classes. Factory and benchrest. We allow factory rifles even if re-barrelled and re-stock as long as it doesn't resemble a bench gun.

Everybody has their own rules thats why you need to ask around. Hope this helps.
