Barry Duncan

Post by Tony Z »

I have just heard the news that one of our top rimfire shooters has passed away. I first met Barry Duncan and his wife Georgina at the National Hunterclass champs in Springsure the first year we were able to get the match out of the city and into a regional area. We tied for first place in the Open section and i prevailed with a group measurement being required of all targets and even then it was so very very close. We met at more matches around the country after that and i tried to convert him over to centrefire and it wasn't until recently that he had gotten into F class. There will be another Nationals in Springsure this year in September, and i like many will be saddened of his not being there. I respected him as a competitor and few would argue that he was one of the finest rimfire shooters in the country. Like they say in Precision Shooter Magazine, we are diminished.

Sorry to hear the passing of a good fried, Although I did not know him your words ring out the tone of a mate that will be surely missed.
As years go bye we will continually loose people of this nature that have really made a difference in shooting sports.
My condolences to all his family and all that new him.
Regards
Damien Webb.

Yes he will be greatly missed.

A few of us shot with him the weekend before he passed. Barry was keen to catch up with everyone, shoot and have a yarn like always.

Barry's funeral was very large with many shooters coming long distances to fairwell a freind.

We will all miss you Barry.

Shane.
