Well, the Batemans Bay 500mt Fly has been run and won in astounding manner!
Check the results below -
HG 1st Les FRASER 283.6 (THATS RIGHT 283.6!!!!)
2nd Dave GROVES 264.6
3rd Mick FARR 252.4
Small Group - Les Fraser - 1.562"
Best Target - Les Fraser (A) - 59.2
Les used 300 WSM with 190 Sierra and Nightforce scope (I am reasonably sure)
LG 1st Anthony HALL 274.4 (THATS RIGHT 274.4!!!!)
2nd Mike BELL 269.3
3rd Rob SMALL 256.2
Small Group - Anthony Hall - 1.280"
Best Target - Anthony Hall - 58.2
Anthony used 6mmBR with 103 Copperheads and Nightforce scope (again from memory)
Conditions were virtually windless - which meant you needed a bit of luck on your side to avoid the mystery lost shots (something I struggled with all day).
Congrats to the winners and place-getters - all of whom were humble in their success.
Full results should be up on this site and also 500mFly.com.au very soon.
It is unlikely that these new records will be so much as challenged (let alone broken) at any other range with the possible exception of Wagga Wagga.
Pete

Forgot to mention the extent of the record smashing!
HG was 266.6 (Stuart Elliot) now 283.6 - up a whopping 17 points.
LG was 253.6 (me) now 274.4 - up a huge 21 points !!
My only consolation is that I still have the only sub one inch group - and thats not going to last forever either!!!!

Yes a great day of shooting and very well run by the team at Batemans Bay every competitor had a good day.
Congratulations to the guys on some good results, you know its a tough day at the office when you shoot 254.4 and end up 4th in HG on a countback.
Les and Anthony simply shot stunning group after stunning group, shooting next to Les I would look at my target and estimate a low 50 and think thats good, then check the target next to mine and see a 58 or 59 down there and think well maybe not good enough.
As Pete said Les ran 190 Sierras in a 300wsm, Anthony ran 103 Copperheads in a 6BR

Sensational shooting yesterday by Les and Anthony...and the records were smashed without the aid of a March scope...I was talking with JR yesterday in regard to the evolution that is taking place within the discipline, in particular the high scores and little groups that are now being produced. JR made statement that we may need to start using rubber backing to verify that there were 5 shots on target...I replied 'or we could use electronic targets'.
Irrespective the discipline is evolving at an incredible pace and it's evident with the equipment that is now available and being developed and the time and effort that people are committing to load development.
I may be going out on a limb here but I'm adamant that Australians are making an enormous contribution if not pioneering the unfolding evolution in Long range BR.
A big Congratulations to Les and Anthony on their smashing records and to everyone that competed and a special thanks to those that accommodated us with their hospitality and food (Bryce makes a mean hamburger-the best I've ever had) and another thank you to the target crew and scorer. As always the Bateman's Bay shoot has been a sensational weekend.
As for me I'm just happy to hit paper but I'm now bursting at the seams for Mr. Giles to finish off the two new barrels that are being fitted to the Stolle.

These 'copperheads' must be something special. I've only ever heard glowing reports on them and I'm certainly going to give them a burn. Can anyone fill me in as to where I can get them...?
I was almost going to purchase 1000 vld Berger's in December for my 6 X 47 L build. I won't be buying them now.....speaking of 6mm's I've since had a Damascus experience after having observed Mick Bell's and his Bat machine in 6mm BRX drill out the center target in every detail...

Hi All , Tell the world about Kens Bullets ,i reckon .. I have even arranged to get Ken's product to a pal in the US , he won over there also.. I've just spent 6 hours measuring and running the Copperheads over the Juenke .. Guess what the 30 cals come up as good as the 6mms .. I live for the day i can set records with an Australian product ..JR..Jeff Rogers
