It's because some of the different brand ammo has left hand threads.

Most of the ammo brands I've used have been pretty good, except Remingturd, my CZ Varmint hated it with a passion so I've never bought it again.

What brand of ammo was it Windknot?

Sounds like a good fit with your calibre line up, just need something around .30 cal for the big stuff and your set.
